The Curse Of Oak Island

I watched last night, and I'll continue watching whenever I can.
There are some concerns I have about where the program will go in the future though.
I noticed Kellyco is playing a larger part in this seasons program, what with the visit to Kellyco, the prominently displayed logos on shirts, the participation of the Kellyco guys in interpreting the MDing results, etc.
Maybe they have found that the business of promoting a metal detecting equipment company will produce treasure faster than digging in the swamp.
They seem to be paying more attention to the metal detecting forums and give the appearance of wanting to appeal more to metal detector swingers than treasure hunters.
I totally bought into the tree stump...well, kinda looked more like a splintered piece of limb, and am convinced there was a strip of land joining the two islands before they dug the hole to bury the wrecked ship and filled it in..totally!
The casing was interesting too, not a structural master piece since I saw light between the boards when they lifted it, but interesting none the less.
The scuba demonstration was great and very informative.
First program of a new season and they have already played the permission card.....now that appeals to me!
After the Curse of Oak Island program was finished I stayed up and watched another program about a couple of guys looking for the graves of our giant ancestors.
Amazingly, it also began with exploring a mysterious shaft with unusual and very mysterious lettering engraved into a flat stone.
Any similarity to the Curse of Oak Island program is surely purely coincidental:lol:

The hole digging is a piece of cake. Try keeping the government
out of it with their crappy little hands. They are going to make
getting permits almost impossible and if granted, unaffordable.
It's always amazed me that anything 3 miles off shore is considered
international territory, yet, these treasure hunters that recover
millions from sunken ships from over 200 years ago claims a huge
portion of the take and they don't have a darn cent invested in it.

Next week they ship in the Hoffmans from "Goldrush" and turn it into a diamond mining operation. Old man hollering " No guts, no Glory" drives them all into bankruptcy:lol:

I don't think bankruptcy is a option this early into a new season.
I think their saving grace will be when American Savage Diggers :digginahole: show up with their heavy equipment and literally gut the island.

I like the show. I feel like they will find out what the pit was there for but it will be empty, I think someone cleaned it out years ago.

I've been watching it, but every time something like the holy grail gets mentioned, I get that "give me a break!" feeling about the show. Didn't they mention something about King Solomon on a recent episode? I'll watch it tonight, but if they bring that greek guy (I know, he's not Greek, only thing I can remember about him is his name sounds Greek and he has a crazy hairstyle) from those alien shows on an episode, I'm done.

All in all, I think this show is much better than the detecting shows; I just have a feeling they'll end up like the Hoffman's on Gold Rush did in South America.

I'm really liking the show and I hope that there is an actual conclusion to it rather than ending it early and unfinished due to low ratings. I don't believe that they'll find much though there will probably be evidence of past treasure that was already removed a long time ago. I was really into "Ghost Mine" on the Syfy channel and they ended it after two seasons with a cliffhanger and a lot of unanswered questions. I hope that doesn't happen with this show too.

I know Minelab made sure they sent Gary Drayton after that other guy last season didn't know much about detecting when he said gold and silver was in the same range:lol: Hopefully Gary doesn't do the planting finds trick like he does to throw off other hunters at the beach.

I'll try it again this year. But if it's padded with fluff like it was last year trying to generate enough commercial airtime I won't be watching it the third year.

Exactly my thoughts as well; the suspense being buzz killed by commercials and endless re-hashing of what had just happened started to get corny and clearly proved the show was reaching for material, ugh.

I found that a DVR made all the difference so that I could fast forward through all the needless commercials.

That is true for most shows these days. Seems there is more time wasted on commercials than on the program you want to watch. My wife calls the DVR "speed watching".
