Wow! Wish I was there.
Funny my first seated is 1875cc lol
You'll find one someday.
That hurts! Haha. Thanks!
Hit a tear out and was not getting any good signals. Its good to see someone digging something.
Not all tear-outs are the same. I have hunted many that gave up nothing. If the last replacement was too recent, if the original road was paved over virgin ground, or if any of the previous roads were deeply excavated, then there will be nothing to find.
For this to work like the OP has been recovering, it needs to be a street that was originally dirt (and hopefully for a long time), and you need it to be an old pavement where they basically leveled the ground and poured the concrete or asphalt on top, thereby locking all the good targets below.
Too often though, those old streets (and sidewalks) were dug out, filled with sand, packed down, graveled, graded and then paved. Hauling the old coin filled dirt off to the landfill.
Some times I shudder to think of all the great dirt in my area that has been used to layer out landfill.
Well, this picture is old...
Let's just say that apparently people didn't drop many gold coins, 20 centers, or trimes back in the day, only V nickels, Indian Heads, Shields, Dimes, and 22 short casings!
Well they tore out another portion today! I'm headed out right meow! Hopefully it produces some goodies....I need seated or barber quarter to match the dimes I found on the other portion of the tear out!

The silver streak.....continues! 1923 Merc! Also found a back of a pocket watch that is really really cool! And a toy truck...cast model t tanker with the number 20 on the door!
Sounds like they are starting the other portion of it the beginning of next week...I'm hoping to find a pile of coins. Maybe the Barber grand slam...Dime, Quarter, Half. Or a Seated Grand Slam even. But more than likely the V nickels will keep coming, either way I'll take what I can dig up! I'm still hopeful one of the solid midtones I dig won't be a nickel or bale seal, but rather a gold coin! It's only a matter of time!
