This is my third last trip to the beach, this one I think seriously is my last. Its a 70 mile round trip, its getting cold and the beach is pretty well pounded.
Pup had a great time, temps in the low 40's and sunny - Looks like I have a swimmer on my hands, some dogs don't like water and some dogs do, glad he likes it ,, If it was warmer I would have been chucking a tennis ball in for him to fetch.
Took a massive dump on the beach right after he got out of the car, he was whining I thought he was whining for food but no, he was whining to get out and go. So impressive for a pup I almost took a pic, but thought better of it at the last moment.

Anyhow didn't get skunked, found this dingy broken .925 marked silver chain and some junk jewelry not pictured.

Looks like you found a good hunting partner! Congrats on the silver.

Good looking dog... that happened to me with my last lab pup.. she was whining and shaking... I thought it was the ride were on... found a rest stop and pulled over with same results are you had... by any chance did you take a pic? Just kidding.. oh yeah congrats on chain...

It's cold and the beach is pounded. But can't you go to other beaches ? 70 miles RT doesn't seem far to me. I do that and alot more , but also have many beaches to choose from.

No 70 miles is not that much, its not the gas that bothers me but wear and tear on the vehicle and risk of a collision in horrendous rush hour traffic that gives me pause .. or paws ahahhaaa

There actually is one more I can hit and alot closer too, its a ghetto city beach though usually loaded with trash, especially foil ,, But you never know until you try.

Yeah , makes sense especially when you got Ruff crowning to go poopie ! Worse if you both have to go. I have been caught in brutal traffic that has taken me 2.5 hours to go 80 miles on my way home.

That's a good looking pup I had to bury my friend 2020 xmas eve. It was like burying a child he showed more love for me than my owned kids :(. Life has been a struggle for me ,but at 82 time is closing in fast.Love your pup and maybe I will see my " Chilimac"on the other side.james45

My boy Gubba recently passed away, 11 year old Shepard and that almost killed me, months ago and I'm still not back to normal ,, I got this pup less than a week after he died, it was bittersweet but I guess I'm the type of guy who has to have a dog, even tho I am well aware I may have to go through this again - Take care and god willing, you've got some good years left yet.

Thought I'd keep this in the same thread from last year, same beach and same dog. Ruff is 1 year old now and loves the beach, had fun splashing around and chasing seagulls.
I trained him early not to stray too far from me and am glad I can let him romp off leash without worrying about him bolting somewhere.
Did real good, the gold honker is marked 14 k but I'm not too optimistic about it, has the plated look and very shiny, we'll see. Smaller gold ring is 14k and I think this is the largest silver ring I have ever found, looks like something a Viking would wear. Also found a 54 Rosie, have probably found a couple dozen here over the years but this is the first I have found in a few years - You already know me & Ruff are going to hit it again.

The lake pic looks like the water is really low, exposing a lot of huntable beach that was underwater at some time. Either that or the lake just has extra wide beaches. Nice hunt and Ruff is a good looking dog.

Way to go on the new finds post. Gold is good! On a side note. Just saw only my third cat on the beach the other day. Lady was training it to like the water.

You are right, in places I could see the seaweed line and looks like the water level is down for whatever reason

Love the fat gold cigar band!

Maybe time for a upgrade in detector? I know I had a friend who loves his bounty hunter, he has found some cool stuff, even a 5 Dollar Norris Gregg Norris gold coin in a stream.............. he still uses that thing today in tot lots. After a few years of hunting together he did upgrade to the excalibur for the beaches

I have a Legend, guess I should take it there and give it a try but the Ace is such a ring magnet and I know it so well, I always talk myself out of experimenting, with the limited time frame I have there, with another detector [I had a Nox, same thing happened with that] I do have an AT Pro as well that I used exclusively in the water during summer.
The only thing I'd really potentially gain at this location with a better detector is more depth, it pretty rare to find anything here past 4" or so, though deeper coins from the 30's-50's are a strong possibility.

Another day with Ruff at the beach, he was ecstatic chasing gulls and herons around.

Ended up with just a stainless ring, it rang up in the high 30's on my 250 which is almost always junk, since there weren't many signals I dug it anyhow and ended up with a ring.
Also found what appeared to be a tentacle, quite an unusual find in Michigan - After cleaning and closer exam, appears to be a replica.
