Hey Y'all on the forum from Acworth Ga. I've been hunting since 1964 when a childhood friend and I dug up a Yankee Box plate near Dalton Ga, along with the remnants of the leather cartridge box and some unfired 3 ringers! Not long after that I was studying in my Ham Radio Class and found out there was a such thing as a metal detector, a Mine Detector to be exact. I acquired one through a friend of my Dad's and finally found the batteries to run it. It was so heavy it was a 2 man job, I usually conned my li'l brother Chris into carrying the large round can in a backpack and I would use the Search coil, though we sometimes swapped. We found a shot gun shell brass or 2 and stumbled on to finding coins where church had been held in an old Chicken House. We moved on to the Church yard and to the School house near by. Through the years I have used and owned almost every brand of Commercial Metal detector ever made starting with a Metrotec, but mostly kept and used White's also later MineLab, and Garrett. These are the 3 that I stay with today. I also have worked with various Metal Detector companies, doing repairs and modifications on most every kind of detector from small handheld units used as pin pointers and by Law Enforcement on to large ones used in Court Rooms and Air Ports as well as ones used in industry to examine products ranging from foods to paper and foam compounds and Carpet Production. I have loved detecting from age nine to today and I am 61 WOW that is some 52 years did not think about it until now that I have been detecting for over 50 years! I've found lots of Relics (Mostly Civil War era) and too many coins to count as well as lots of rings, just this last week I found a 2 Kt Diamond surrounded by two rows of smaller rectangle cut diamonds my best lately. Glad to be here. Laurin the Swamp~Fox
