New ace 350 coming out!

Ah what we do without Old Town's love for the Ace Metal Detectors? I never seen such a better pair then this two. A match made in heaven!

bmc94 , old town is not to be taken so seriously. Just laugh it off , everybody has opinions on the machines they dont use and are partial to the ones they do. Ive got years of experience detecting too and I use a 250 , so what it all boils down to is what you are comfortable with. Its not just the amount of people who have the 250's and like them that prove some people wrong  , but also they have found a lot of good stuff including gold and some at impressive depth for a low budget detector. I dont like bounty hunters and wouldnt have one but in the hands of some people they can be quite effective , so my opinion dont count for much , same basic thing.

ur right u make a good point.

I also hate texting and that foul language that has evolved from it..

Why can't people speak English?

Example:

"As I remember, Adam, it was upon this
fashion bequeathed me by will but poor a thou-
sand crowns, and, as thou sayest, charged my
brother on his blessing, to breed me well: and
there begins my sadness. My brother Jaques
he keeps at school, and report speaks goldenly
of his profit: for my part, he keeps me rustically
at home, or, to speak more property, stays me
here at home unkept; for call you that keeping
for a gentleman of my birth, that differs not from
the stalling of an ox?"

See that...Them there is some real purty words!

Ace 150/250/350

While the Ace 350 looks good from the ad, it's new and as a new item like all other electronic items, I would not rush out to buy it if you already have a good proven 250, however if you don't have anything and the 350 looks good to you go out and be a product tester for the new 350.

In my opinion and again it's just my opinion, I don't see the 150 or the 250 being phased out or going down in price. The Ace 150 is the perfect entry level inexpensive quality detector out there. I teach kids to MD and the 150 is my primary machine that I use to teach them on and recommend to their parents to get. It's lightweight, easy to use, easy to store and works really well producing lots of results. As the user gets proficient with their detector and demands more, I like the 250 mainly because of the pin-point mode. Other than that and a few filters on the unit, I truly believe that they are the exact same unit.

The only thing I see on the 350 are two features, the larger coil and the ability to detect in mineralized soil such as wet sand, although I have my doubts on how well it does this. There are many different brand/model detectors out there and each one will be considered a good unit/good price etc. to someone out there for a variety of reasons.

If you have a 250, I would keep it and be happy. It's a great unit and you can't beat the price. I would not ever give up my 250 even if the 350 proves to be a better unit. Truth is, some MD'ers out there that are 15,20 & 30 years old, still work great and people dig up all kinds of stuff with them. If your the type of person who has lots of disposable income and likes to have the latest and greatest of everything, go get the 350. If you don't have a detector at all and were thinking of the 250 but can afford the 350, I would probably say go get the 350 and give it a whirl if you don't mind being a product tester. If you have a 150 and want to upgrade, both units the 250 & 350 are great choices, but I would consider keeping the 150 for a friend to detect with you or if your going to teach a newbie.

When I detect in the salt water, I use my Minelab Excal II. Nothing in my opinion compares and there are no other choices out there if you ask me.

To all those who have an Ace 150/250 you want to get rid of to get the 350, send me a PM and I would be happy to take them off your hands. I am a Cub Scout leader who teaches scouts to MD and many of these kids parents have little or no money. I own 2 right now that I use to teach with and when a parent wants to buy one for their kid I get good used ones for the kids. To them it's new, to the parents it's affordable. I have had a few people donate theirs to the cause which I give to our Pack to determine who is the most likely candidate to receive the donated equipment.

For those product testers out there who get the 350, I would like to see a new thread formed for the Ace350 Product Tester results. Then we can all see the likes and dislikes of the 350 and be able to make a more informed buying decision out there.

I love my ACE's!

I think I like the 12-year-old's text message better. Yowza! that is some writin'.

I am going to wait to buy one and look at the reviews. If it has good reviews i will absolutely get one. Love my Ace 250 and if the 350 goes deeper then that is even better.

Just by the coil size difference the 350 must detect deeper. The larger the coil the deeper the detection. The question is, how much of the electronics have been changed or did they just add a few minor improvements and keep the same basic design. Not that a total redesign or just an update is necessarily good or bad. I'll bet a call to a Garrett tech would answer that question though.

Depth ability would be interesting to see , and it will still differ from place to place depending on soil composition. But they raised the operating frequency and if I had to guess , its possible that would cancel out some of the benefit of having a larger coil. Based on the diagram of the coil and its signal on the website it looks more like the coil makes a wider path , not that it goes much deeper.

Getting back to the original subject - I don't think anyone has mentioned the biggest difference in the 350, the double-D search coil. Using the minelab Exp. Se, I have seen the difference this type of coil can make in trashy areas. The other Aces have the concentric coil. I would assume they had to rework the software for the new type of coil. I wouldn't assume that the 350 is just a 250 with a bigger coil. Let's wait until we see some reviews.

Well considering the fact that the same coil will also work on the 250 , they didnt have to change much , software or otherwise. Just a slightly higher frequency.

Pre Order your 350

Hey guys, just thought I drop you a line since you are all excited about the new 350 coming out Mid September. If anyone is serious I would contact your local dealer or dealer of choice. We are a dealer and just placed an order. We were told the pre-order list is huge. Those who want to get it should preorder just to be safe. Hopefully , they will not run out. We are anxious to field test it ourselves. Take care guys.
