The Ace 350. Same junk for more money. Life just keeps getting better.

Interesting dilemma - could see a surplus of used 250's being sold off as people will upgrade to the 350?
I don't know enough about MD's to know if the extra $100.00 MSRP justifies the extra "features" of the Ace 350. I already have a pair of headphones and if the new fancy coil doesn't bring about any valid reason to upgrade... there's probably no reason to wait for the 350.
Being a Ace 250 user.... I see they have the Dime and Quarter on the same ID segment..... Which I can understand this..... When a dime or quarter is under the coil it rings up the same. In most cases not all the time.
It does not mention what the Zero mode is yet. Anyone have a clue?
Not trying to shoot down your post but after looking the detector over I dont know what Garrett is thinking. Still no volume control or ground balance , and except for a slightly higher frequency and different search coil its basically an ace 250 that costs 100 dollars more. All things considered , I think there are much better relic detectors out there in that price range. Not a good way to stay competitive. But thats just my opinion.
Hey OT if I happen to hit the lottery I am going to buy you one of these 350's for Christmas, I know you are drooling for one .I don't think this will be a flop. In fact judging by the majority of posts I see on the different forums people are salivating for the most part. I bet Garret sells 10 billion of them.
To me the 350 is just a Ford Pinto with a bigger gas tank. Does not appear to be anything but some chintzy headphones and a bigger coil for an extra 100 bucks. The machine's "box" doesn't have enough horsepower to drive the original smaller coil, the larger coil will be a flop but will look nifty failing. Nifty sells.
Try a Cibola or an F4 for the same money. Try one of the low-end Minelabs. Anything but this yellow pig with a new bow in its hair.

Just don't get hit from behind while you drive it!
Those pintos were actually pretty good little cars for their time. They got a bad reputation for the gas tank issue but Ive seen plenty of them that were hit in the rear and did not catch fire or explode. It says a lot for a car that you can still see them on the road even now after all these years. There are plenty of small cars these days with the tank in the same place and they are not even built as solid as the pinto was.
Just a sales gimmick I think as most that will buy the 350 will be newbies & many of them won't have a clue about frequencies. I can't see many of the old timers that relic hunt going for one of these. At first there may be a rush of sales since its "new" and people go for that , but as time goes on I think people will actually start to realize they can have the 250 for less money and still have pretty much the same detector , something that current 250 users pretty much already know. Something that puzzles me though is they went with a higher operating frequency on what is being called a relic detector. Its common knowledge that lower frequency tends to work better for finding deeper targets , like relics , while higher freq'
is better for small or gold objects. Is it just me or does it seem like one step forward and two steps back ?

Ace users save yourself while there's still time. Don't buy a 350 until you get to test one. If you still like it then, well, good luck. I can't save everyone.
God knows I try.

SkiWhiz, the 250 fraternity will jump on this like chickens on a June bug. Real relic hunters aren't using 250s to begin with. Serious coin hunters are not into 250s either. This 350 simply gives the novice surface clad hunter another reason to spend his money. If this person who now owns both (250 and 350) crappy Garret's had simply waited and put his combined savings into a better Fisher or Tesoro, he or she would be able to use a much better machine that is both deeper and far more stable without all the car crash noise going on in their headphones. That Ace sound system is painful and the depth is pitiful.
