Fisher F5

2 hour hunt at public park down the road

Hey guys, well went out again today. Weather was beautiful. Went to a different park today close to home for a couple hours. I set up the machine like this: threshold: -2 gain:80 and discrimination: 20

Well I ended up with a measley 49 cents! Potato head I set the machine up like you said. It did seem to help! Thanks.... what settings would I use to get the most out of it ? For depth? I'm getting the hang of the machine and audio response! Just trying to find out the deeper coin signals. Well off to the oldest park in town tommorow for a couple hours. Will post when I get home.

Nothing to talk about but I got that much more time on the F5! HH...john

i am new with the f5 since december but have dug 1200 holes since,i just run gain all the way up and threash at +9 with the this disc at 5,might chatter some but i get used to it,but when it hits a coin the chatter stops and you know it a coin or something i use headphones so i hear everything, sdo it is all trial and error, get to know the machine i still am,i use 3 tone
anything else i will think of i will post happy digging

Thanks for taking the time to read...well I didn't go to the park I wanted to go to because most of it was covered in snow! But did go back to lincoln park again today. I ran a threshold at 2, discrimination at 15 and gain at 85.

Well guys the F5 can get them deep coins!!! My third hole I scored a 1926 buffalo nickel at 6 1/2 inches loud and clear! Numbers were jumpy but I knew I had a good hit! The next hole was a 1927 wheat penny at 6 inches! Very pleased with the F5 depth considering what I have read about the depth of the F5! And that being said it has plenty of depth and that's with the 10" concentric stock coil! I could figure you could get a solid 1 inch added to that with the 11" DD coil. So F5 users out there believe in your machine and dig those silent high tones that jumpu but have a high VDI!

I can't upload pics on my phone! Ill have to take pics on my camera and go to my buddy house to be able to post pics? What a joke...HH..john

Yep, to get decent depth with the F5, you've got to run high gain, least have thresh zero or above. The machine will chatter, if trashy, really chatter.
If area isn't trashy, I hunt in all metal and just watch the ID, get a few more inches this way. Still, it isn't near as deep as my Tesoro Vaq, just more bells and whistles.

I could't get a date off of the buffalo nickel. smooth as a baby butt

Going out now for few hours. will post when i get back..HH..john

Well went out from about 10 to 1 to the riverside park and only scored .92 cents in clad and the usual junk... but my buddy brother that came with us pulled out a WW2 flt button in good shape! About the size of a nickel. One side was plain and the other side had writing on it. Pretty awsome piece of history there! But that was all (between the 4 of us) that was worth talking about. We all had a decent amount of clad. Couldn't ask for a nicer day though..was nice just to be out side soaking up the sun and doing what we love to do!

I'm going to go back to the same park that I found the buffalo nickel and wheaty tommorow sometime! BUT its going to be a high of 36 after being 55 today? Wisconsin weather for ya..

P.S why doesn't this site let me upload a photo from my smart phone???

Will post after hunt..HH..john

went out with the f5 today my first hole a silver ring with tourquose stone in it i will get pic later also 1 yero coin and 2.18 in clad thought i had a silver dime was too dirty to tell but i thought it said 1962 was excited, got home and washed it off more and stupid dime said 1967 the 7 was almost eroded away so needless to say i am still silver coinless to date, but on a note got that silver ring,so i am not dissapointed in the day that is my 10th ring of the year and my 5th silver 925 ring,it rang up as a 65 i new it wasnt a coin so i dug carfully, knowing that 2 other siver rings rang up the same, thats the 3 hour hunt at a park , good luck and happy hunting

Used my F5 on Saturday in the back yard and found a dime and a nutcracker and a couple pounds of junk iron/nails. Anybody have an issue with their display getting stuck on a certain number (mine was 99) and not changing or making any beeping noise? In order to make it respond I just overloaded it by pointing it at my digger, and then it seemed to go back to normal.

Is this normal behavior for an F5 or maybe I have the setting wrong?

Thanks.

Roy

No, way different circuitry. F4 is a f2 + a seperate motion all metal w/gb and no TID mode.
And don't forget the F5 operates at 7.8 khz and the F2-F4 operates at 5.9. This does make a difference in sensitivity and depth especially when relating to the conductivity of the different metals being detected.

I have literally started selling things in order to get an F5. I made $60 this morning, in fact. My dad is coming through with some money he owes me, and that oughtta make this possible.

I believe I’ve watched every single F5 video on the YouTube. Well, every English one, that is. fascinating machine! I have butterflies just thinking about it...

Yeah, I've noticed there are more Russian videos than English ones on the F5, and my Russian isn't the best. I'm not even sure if it's Russian.

Went back to llincoln park today with the F5 for a couple of hours in the frigid air. Managed $1.39 in clad today. With 1 1948D wheat penny.

Does anybody notice your F5 acting funny when your batterie gauge gets down to 2 bars or 7 volts? Couldn't really use it when that happens...would like to hear your thoughts on this...

Thanks,
John

old high school hunt!

Hey guys, got permission to hunt the old high school! So went there yesterday for good hunt about 3. To 4. Hours with the F5. Well I managed a 1891 indian head (my first) and a 1911 V nickel (another first). I am getting more and more impressed with the F5!

I will put pics on my album!

Note: pics aren't hd but ill get em on there

Thanks for taking the time...HH...john

Another great hunt at the old high school!

hey guys, went back to the old high school for a few hours with the f5. got the basic clad for 99.9 of the time and then with it getting dark i was going to hang it up. so i was headed back to the car and i got a jumpy penny signal around 6 inches. so i said to myself "this is my last hole and im hanging it up for the day". so i pulled the plug out and got a steady beat from the pin pointer. dug a lil bit more and there was a penny. i examined the penny and it looked a little different and a hair thicker. so i put it in my pocket to examine it further when i got home. got home in some light and noticed it had a one cent symbol like a wheaty. ran it under water and dabbed it with my thumb. ANOTHER INDIAN HEAD!!!
Going to soak it in water tonight and clean it further in the morning.
thanks for taking the time to read!

will post pics tommorow. HH....john
