I've smoked since I was 15...36 years now. I had massive ankle surgery last weds and was determined to quit. I put the patch on after the surgery. Been a non smoker for 7 days now. I don't plan to start up again either. There's an app called Quitter. It keeps track of how many days, hours, minutes since your last butt and shows how much $ saved too. I'm at $67.79 now just for 7 days. Wifey says I keep it up and in a year I can get myself a new expensive MD. Works for me.
Good luck with quitting. I never dreamed it'd be possible with me but 7 days and I don't really miss it.

Edit: I just noticed where Chad says there's a better app. I'll have to get that one. Thanks Chad!

thanks for all the replies, hearing everyones own experiences is awesome. now i wish i made the switch along time ago. i know just from the short time that i made the switch(thursday nite) that i've only smoked 1 pack of tobacco insted of atleast 4 that i normally would of in 4 days, so basically the starter kit has already paid for itself.

I keep trying to quit and failing after a couple days. Every time I light up I say to myself, "ok, this is the last one", but then I keep saying that and it goes on forever. At the end of the pack I am holding right now is gone, I am going to make one more hail mary effort to quit cold turkey and then I will get some help. My wife quit over 4 years ago and is pressuring me to do the same. I dont want to do it for her, but for myself especially since I am also an asthmatic.

I do have a very stressful life, but I know I seriously need to quit, both for money and for health.

I wish you the best! One day at a time! Remember that.

Sounds great.....maybe order some low nic? I was on 26mg but now I'm down to 16mg. I think 6mg is available too.....very low dose, just to help take the edge off. Just keep telling yourself, "I'm getting my nicotine" and remember that is the only thing you are addicted to. This is a great time to quit, being that it is cold outside. Just think all the times you freeze outside smoking.....the eciggs can be smoked inside the house, with no smell, or second hand smoke. Best of luck!

Good thread. To those who don't understand why we as smokers would want to do something that we knowingly will kill us, it is not an easy habit to break. I myself have been smoking for 17 years and I enjoy it. When people say you have to WANT to quit they are right. I plan on getting the e cig after new years. It is hard to quit when you enjoy it. i got mine at the corner quick mart (turkey hill), they had the starter kit and refills. i think i also seen them at CVS pharmacys. i started the e-cig(cigirex brand) 10 days ago but before starting them i was just over a pack of cigs a day and since i started the e-cig i've only smoked 2 packs in the past 8 days and now i don't even own a pack of cigarettes. i was very surprised how well they work

My advise to anyone thinking about ecigs is to purchase a good unit from a reputable dealer/source. The old saying "you get what you pay for" is def applicable here. If you buy cheap it won't work as good or taste as good as your "old analog" cigs and you'll prob just go back to your old habit. Also note that ecigs just arnt the same as an analog. You'll have to tell yourself you know your getting the nicotine just in a different way. Spend the money for a good unit with rechargable batteries and you shouldn't be disappointed. You'll also note that most if not all those chemicals listed above are "food grade" and are already in the foods we eat. The problems start when we "burn" them, in like smoke them. Then they turn dangerous.

thank you. i smoked for almost 30 years, started with regulars, then about 10 yrs ago went to lights, then about 5 years ago went to ultra lights, now i'm only doin the e-cigs. a couple of my friends have also tried these and are also doing very well with them. good luck with your switch over and i'm sure you'll do well. besides the health benifit i also think of all the money saved, insted of shelling out 200 bucks a month on tobacco the e-cig should only run me 40 a month.

I agree with black vette.....do not get a cheap brand, it will turn you off and you'll go back to smoking. There are a bunch of different brands and gimmicks out there. The joye ego system is very popular and very well put together. A reputable dealer is key also.... There are many of them online.

Anyone familiar with the ego or 510 system....I just switched atomizers for my ego, I was using the cartomizers, but I just got some CE2 clearomizers and I am super happy with the change....they work incredibly well when paired with a nice oped drip tip. They give you a really good throat hit, and they produce great vapor... The pass thru batteries also make a huge difference!!!! I actually had to go down to the 18mg strength from 26mg with the new CE2....it was too much for me. I was getting light headed lol..... Here is a pic. I didn't really like the tip they come with....the air flow was a bit too restricted for me, but once I put a drip tip on there I loved it!!!!

Walgreens sells a disposable 1 for about $ 8.00 its equal to about 1 pack
or they have a reusable stater kit for about $ 55.00
its called Blu e cig
I dont know if its one of the higher quality units or not tho
I have one and it works but its not a CIGARETTE
