As some of you have figured out by my posts , I'm a hardcore beachhunter in So.Cal.
And I can tell you this with 100% finality : hardcore saltwater hunters here DO NOT use Garrett detectors. That's the bottom line.
Not even the Sea Hunter Mk II?

No , they don't. I have seen a couple guys over the years that have graduated up to the SH , but they were typically just really starting to get into wet sand / water hunting. Once they experienced a better brand /detector , they quickly moved on to what works better.
What is the most common beach detector brand that you see?
Now ? Unquestionably Minelab , more specifically the Nox. This is down by the water. I don't pay much attention to what guys use up in the dry sand unless something weird is going on. Like : 8 months ago. Newport Beach. Guy was kicking sand into an aluminum doggie pooper scooper for his finds. He was using a Nox. That was weird. Obviously no research into the hobby or no more $ left after his Nox purchase to afford a proper scoop.
By the way, the tones on the max kill me. The atpro sounds so much better.
Hopefully the apex don’t sound like that

The Vanquish was specifically designed to "vanquish" the Garrett Ace series, the Whites Treasure series, all of the entry level FTP detectors and the Simplex. Whether it does or doesn't is up for discussion. No way was Minelab intending to "vanquish" the Equinox by bringing out the Vanquish.......
Naming the new Garrett detector Apex does create a lot of expectation which is just what Garrett wants.
Good name, super dumb, un-apex-like advertisement.
Jeff
Well this Garrett thread is now a Minelab thread.
That says a lot about what the Apex is up against and further justification as to Garrett needing to hit a home run (or at least a solid double) with this new machine.
Hopefully they hit a triple at the least, but knocking it out of the park would be best.
Waterproof, Balanced Shaft and Multi-Freq would be a triple for me.
Might be a Deus looking ace 250.
I will likely pick up the Apex to run it through test garden and local sites. I will post up my results and review here along with my YouTube channel. I hope for the sake of the hobby it is a good detector but given Garrett's recent track history I am not holding my breath.
