i found this spanish silver coin awhile back but the front is all the way gone. there must be a way to find out what it is. i think it's a half real.

Well..nothing much left but that snippet of a coat of arms looks pretty similar to those in Charles III/IV era coins..so late 18th century. Guesstimating the size from the pic suggest size of about 20mm so big enough to be a Real.

It looks to me that lower left reads 'REX' while top right is HI... So beginning of 'Hispania' Date would be on the obverse side and value at 9 o'clock this side. So ho help from there I'm afraid.

sure is

between my dad my buddy erik and i we have found 3 spanish silver coins. my buddy erik got a really really nice 2 real in great shape i think it was a 1778.

It's a 1 reale. Half reales are the size of a dime. :tumble:
