What did this speedometer come out of?

Interested in what this was originally in. I’ve googled a bit, but no luck yet.

Wild theory, I might be wrong, but it doesn't seem to look like any old speedometer I've seen. I've never seen an antique face I with three lopsided mounting holes, it's usually two; one on either side of the needle. Also with the wreath edge and unique shape, it doesn't seem like it was in a stand alone gauge.


My wild guess, it was a face plate to something with a control knob. The large beveled inner circle probably had a knob covering the open space and the three screws.

But it's my wild guess of the mental photo album of stuff in my head haha

It also reminds me of the old electric meters and gas meter faces that were in metal housings with a glass window in a semi circle or crescent shape...
