I hit the school yard area again today and found not only my first silver coin for '07, but my first '43 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. It is not in the best of shape, but is definitely a find that really got me excited. I also found a quarter, 2 rosies, a few memmies and '50 & '54D wheaties, and a small bracelet with "Ellen" scribed on it. Was fun and will be back there again soon!

I sure love those walkers! Is the coin pitted or is it an optical illusion? Can you think of any reason it would be like that coming out of the ground? I have seen the water hunters silver look like that but never out of the ground. :?:

Yes Steve, the coin is pitted and is rough around the outer edge. I think mxtswinger is correct in saying that it may have been in a gravel parking lot. I found it in black soil near a tree, so I am thinking that was damaged before it got to the dirt.
