Those coins look to be in great shape! How did you get such a nice group of dug steel cents? I rarely find one and it is always a rusty disc, and only found when I stumble upon a wheat cent spill. And your "V" and Buffalo Nickels look superb, mine come out of Montana soil with a definite brick red look. You have an excellent area to detect, very kind to coins!

Luck, research, site, consistency & patience. Steel cents were in a cash deteriorated leather bag & others scattered about Texas.

Can you tell us the backstory on the "cash deteriorated leather bag" ?

And as for the IH's there : Your soil is VERY kind to them. Almost look like not dug.

Its ALL dug. I dug it. I believe it to have been possibly a doctors bag, it was 90% deteriorated but had contained some coins, some eye wash glass & other seemingly medicinal items.

Part of why some of us are doubting that these coins were dug, is when you first posted, you did not mention that most of these were found all together in a satchel or perhaps a doctor's bag. Your cents being so shiny, almost uncirculated, ditto with the Indian Head Cents, and the Steel Cents, the nickels that look so nice, make much more sense if they were found not in direct contact with the soil but in some sort of container. They do not look like coins that were individually dug.

No, my bad. The majority of the pile was from a bag. The others were from another spot however 90% dug indeed. I don't buy coins or relics, actually I give some to interested Neighbor kids hoping they will find a compelling desire to get outdoors. I have no monetary value associated with any finds.

Excellent! I do the same with some of my permissions, give Wheat Cents and other relics to some of the kids who may be watching or helping me detect.

I've never seen pennies and nickels come out of the ground in such "clean" shape in all my years of detecting.
I don't know the history behind these coins, but I can say I'm not that surprised by the condition as displayed.

I used to clean all the coins I was never going to sell, and many looked new once cleaned. After years of setting they have gained back a lot of the tone. Even the nickles. Here is a few I can guarantee I personally dug out of the ground.
