A bell?

I almost forgot this one I found a couple days ago, at one time I think it was round, has some lines running up and down, it's hollow and busted up on the bottom.

Hard to tell without being cleaned up, but it does kind of look like a crotal bell. Is there a place to hang it from (maybe that's a hole in the top of it in the first pic), or is it smooth? If smooth, then I'd say it's some sort of decorative sphere (bed post topper, maybe).

I got it cleaned up and posted better photos, I hope these help. Thank you!
