Found this ring at my Aunt's house..any ideas?

It was about 4 inches down, and is in pretty good shape for a "junk" ring. My Aunt doesn't recognize it, but she's going to ask the family. Turns out that they only moved there in the 1950's...but the house was built in 1846.
There's still lots of treasure to be found there. Unfortunately, the large part of the yard has a LOT of iron in it. There used to be a barn on the property, so that's probably a big part of the iron problem.
