I found this 3 prong buckle hunting farm fields. It was found within 100 yards of where my partner found a US belt plate and .69 3 ringer. It is plain, and not ornate in any way. It fairly large measuring 3 3/4 by 2 1/2. My partner said it looks like a sash buckle.

Any closer ID or even time frame? There was a homesite here that was occupied from the early 1800s until about 1950. I also know many of the Union troops that came through here were new recruits so possibly a young new recruit plain buckle?
