I came across this fairly large, interesting iron object while detecting a former home site in a farm field identified from an 1880s map. The site also turned up a couple of flat buttons so far, so that might give an additional clue in terms of age. It seems like the part with the small hole used to rotate around the shaft with the larger loop before it rusted solid. No idea what it is, but it’s definitely got a date with my electrolysis equipment! Any ideas on what it might be?

Looks similar to this early single tree hardware.
