New to metal detecting and found this near the home site of the mill owner. I have no idea what it is. The mill was opened around 1850 and closed in 1910 and was left abandoned until 1929 when it became hiking trails.
Looks like a handwheel for a gate valve. Could have been either water or steam.
Oh, wait......just noticed that it's only about an inch diameter.
That suggest maybe a clock gear or something from a toy truck?
