Alright Guys.

First off, cool to see this community carved out. Excited to poke around here over the next few days.

Always been a solo MD'er down near Charleston, SC and got into things after uncovering a plantation sight on the property I live on. Had some fun find where with an old Garrett I had. Eventually upgraded to a White's MTX when they were doing the "300" package. I've loved the detector and had great luck. Paid for itself on the first day out when I dug a 1783 Nova Constellatio piece that I must been over a dozen times before.

Been working with some people in the area to target new sites and am getting some family members interested in going out with me. Looking for a detector that would be a good compliment to the MTX.

It would be my parents throwing down for things and my dad has a tendency to go all out when he goes for something but I'm also not looking for him to just throw his money away.

The light weight package of the Deus is attractive and the features look bomber.

I like the depth and target size capabilities of the GTI.

I also live coastal and am eyeing a few Rev war sites that are water side and having the cost effect, water proof, tried and true work horse of the AT Pro could be great (is there a version 2 coming out? heard rumors...)

Like I said, I'm in SC coastal so inland the soil isn't too mineralized but I am around salt. I'd love to track something down would compliment the MTX well.

Anyone have hands on experience with any of the above? Would love and welcome any opinions as I'm driving myself a bit nuts looking at reviews and comparing. I know there's a massive spread in the price points of these machines but I've learned that having a quality machine can mean the difference between that once in a life time find and just another day. Just trying to balance it all out.

Im not impressed with the depth of the AT Gold up here but in sandy soil it should be better. Im wanting to dump my AT Gold for the MX Sport.

The Deus would be the way to go IMO. The 2500 is very old and technology has changed since then, also from test I've seen the AT generally beats it. The AT is nice, but the Deus is a top end machine, the AT is a mid range detector. If money were no object I'd get the Deus without a question. It's also multi-freq. so will handle a wider range of ground conditions.

Skip the GTI's!
target sizing isnt "all that" , if it was youd see all makers throwing out similar machines ! it was pretty much a DUD from the start IMO! ...once you get familiar with a machine, you can figure out the size faster without staring at a screen...and we all know the quicker you determine size/sound and decide you wanna dig ,the more targets you can dig in a hunt!...my buddy has one he regrets buying...and im definately unimpressed with its depth!

I agree. The V3i offers target sizing and I never use it. It's not something you want to base digging a target off of. It's easier just to size the target area by sweeping the coil over and around the target. You'd miss a lot of good stuff by relying on target sizing.

Deus, 11in coil & get the water the water kit. Weight is super lite and wireless is great in the brush. Wading & rain no prob. The depth is etrac like and will do small gold and still kill on relics. Learning curve is also etrac like. Price is good right now. I am more than happy with my Deus. I have an etrac and MXT in the stable. If I HAD to sell one, its the MXT that would go with no regrets.
