What pinpointer to choose.

garret AT has been fine for me but I also like the TRX by Whites. Little different to get used to but if you never used one before, it wont seem any different then what you currently use. I like how the TRX pinpoints much better.

no body mentioned the Deteknix Xpointer? they are good as well and not as expensive as the carrot and the trx.

I use a White's TRX as well. Very happy with mine.

Pin pointer

Thanks for the input from everyone. Looks like the Garret would be an OK choice. But for now I've bought the Harbor Frt. model to have something until available funds are saved up.

I've had a Garrett for about two years now and love. I haven't had a problem with it unless the batteries are low.

Although it's not waterproof, I have a Nokta RS that works fantastic! I prefer to use it over the carrot unless it's raining/muddy/miserable. If you get an RS though make sure it's the updated pushbutton style. The old ones had a slide switch that packed with dirt and after a bit you had troubles turning them off. Their customer service was AWESOME!!! They actually found me on a forum asking questions about the switches and said "oh, we fixed that....here ya go, keep the old one too." The thing was bought used on ebay and had been out of warranty for 5 mo at that time also.

I didn't see anyone mention the Garrett's color, either. I lost mine in the woods just last weekend and was able to find it within 5 minutes because it stands out so well. Obviously you can tape any pin pointer though. Also, it has an inactivity setting where it beeps at you after 5 minutes of being left on, but unused. In case you lose it and leave it on.

Carrot

Have high viz yellow tape on my black one but none needed for this H2O baby:D:D
