I've done lots of things, including 8 years in the USMC, but I haven't had a real "job" since I was 34. Was a stay-at-home Dad and now my kids are 20 and 23, so, I'm done.
I'm not ashamed to say that my wife is the bread winner.
Some men don't realize how much work is involved with housework, cooking, dishes, laundry, shopping, yard work, projects, ect.
My wife and I both worked over the years, but she told me before I turned 62 that she wanted me to retire on Social Security at 62 and take care of the house, and that she wanted to keep working, I found out I seem to work harder taking care of the house than the previous job I worked
but I can't complain as at least I can take a break when I want
(We were also caregivers for 9 years for her mom who was in her 90's with Dementia)
My wife is not ready to be around the house all the time, she likes the routine of having a job to go to, it worked out good as I am okay with being home doing the housework, and she tolerates my cooking
just kidding, if I ask her if she liked a meal she'll joke with me and say "I ate it didn't I ?"
Our dog is very glad to see me at home too, our dog does not like being in the house by herself, but you should hear our dog when "mommie" comes home, our dog sometimes "talks" to her as if to say I am happy to see you
