Vanquish vs Simplex+

I have used the simplex for a year now and love it. As far as saying it loves iron, it does tend to peak on a point of large iron but when you pinpoint it will show a large object. It does love bottle caps though. I’ve never used the vanquish so I’m not giving any opinions about that machine.

Yep, this is typical with all detectors. The crown caps is typical with DD coils.

Okay, I am really leaning on the vanquish, but my cousin found out (oh-no!) that I was going to gift him. He thinks the simplex just "looks cooler" than the vanquish, what do I do? He has no clue what vdi, tones, or multi-freak does, I need to persuade him real quick that the vanquish is better. He's on the debate team (double oh-no!) so I need some good quick answers on why it's better!

Your answers might change a detectorist's career!

as mentioned, the vanquish has "multi-iq" it 'finds" stuff ..period.it goes deep, with excellent, accurate i.d.its so easy to use, a "ten year old" can take one out, and literally find the world with it! no bulls*it. the thing was a 'sleeper" right out of the box upon introduction. "short money" killer sniper on coins, and jewelry!
ohh! it also has a 3 year warranty ..I love mine, and I been huntin' for over 35 years!

I’ve never dug a screw cap with a Minelab, now when I use the deus or other brands I’ve dug a fair share of them. Minelabs do not see them as non ferrous. I was hunting a yard this year and my friend was digging a pile of them and I was not.

My buddy has a simplex and it reads iron like silver coins, it’s ridiculous. I’m constantly checking his signals with my ctx and nox and it’s always iron reading like dimes and quarters on his simplex

I had these same issues with the simplex, it was reading crown caps anywhere from silver dime to silver dollar range! I'm talking about the the screw off twist caps from a glass beer bottle, not the aluminum screw type either  my parks are loaded with these, therefore, I was having a hard time finding the goods amongst all the high tones. Almost every signal sounded like a coin. Between that, and the instability on the saltwater beaches, I moved on to greener pastures.

Thanks all, gonna order my cousin the vanquish 440, hopefully, get a awesome deal from one of the sponsors. Does anyone know the business hours of them?

This is my biggest issue with the simplex, bottle caps ring up all over the place! It's close to a deal breaker in areas with modern trash. On the other hand I rarely dig bottle caps with the vanquish 440, and when I do I'm pretty confident that it's a bottle cap before I dig it. The simplex is a great machine but bottle caps are definitely it's weak point.

The small coil works a lot better in trashy areas

Md 20-20 I rolled a car in my youth with the help of the ole mad dog.

yup! nasty stuff! used to go snowmobiling with a "snoot full" of the dog!..bouncin' off trees was a great time! still can be had at the 5 and dime for "short money!"
