Hi all.

For those of you who make the very occasional video to show a particular aspect of detectors, do you use a forehead cell phone mount, chest mount, something else?

I use the built in "Hand" mount. It works great! Because of the design it's very hard to lose and it's always there when you need it. It does have some drawbacks though. When it's freezing outside it gets cold and some times shaky. In times like this it's wise to put it in your pocket to warm it up. I usually have a pair of gloves in my back pack for these occasions.

Mudwhale,

That would definitely be the most economical solution, but of course, not very practical.

Keeping cost effectiveness and practicality in mind, I think I'll just use some two sided tape, and tape my phone to my forehead.

I think I've tried them all, and recently switched to one of these weighted neck mounts.

This style of mount gets the camera closer to the detector than a head mount, which allows your viewers to see the display. You can put it on or take it off much easier than a standard chest mount. I use a little swivel extension with it so that I can angle the camera toward my detector. Works great. Its made for action cameras but I'm sure there's an adapter for a cell phone as well.

The extension:

I have a small cheap action cam that takes all GoPro mounts. I started out with it mounted to my detector, trying to get the display, tones and my speaking. That failed miserably. Long story short I now use a head mount for both land and water. On land, I have a headband and external microphone that I put in one of my headphones. In the water I have a waterproof housing screwed to the bill of my baseball cap and no microphone. Here are some sample videos, the playlist is all my attempts and changes on land. The lone video is in the water in Panama City Beach.

Not a cell but a Go Pro. Cube and #7 Mount all to the head phones and use a lipstick battery pack as power so it records up to 6 hours non-stop. Maybe not the best for detectors with with a screen.
