Very rough conditions today with poor visibility, but some new low spots appeared and I snagged these and some silver coins.
I hunted for ages looking for the other half, but no luck. Gave the rings a quick clean to check out the markings on this tonight.
8g of 18k and the 2 rings are 9.3g of 9k

:dingding: That's a gosh darn great day!

I'm always amazed by the build up on the gold you find i wonder if it's radically different geology than most other places leaching different levels of mineralization into the water

I went back there looking for the other bit, but all I found was 3 gold rings and a silver ring that was stuck to a bunch of silver coins. The mesh ring is cool though, it' kind of like a chain but made for a finger

It's because the gold isn't moving to knock the crust off, it's all trapped in a deep layer that doesn't see any wave action, but not in clay so it's not protected from salt water. Plus most of it is sitting in with other more reactive metals like iron so the salt water is working on it with oxygen and forming oxides

Awesome finds LJS... like the second batch better lol...
I just got through cleaning that first little signet, it's a date on the inside from 1913. The one from today has a date from 1940 in it, I'm trying to work out the emblem on it, might be military

Only 3 gold and 1 silver? Sounds like a killer spot. Keep swinging

That's what happens when you find higher karat gold. "but all I found was 3 gold rings" The little 10k kids ring I just found had me doing cartwheels:laughing: I still go back to a spot where I found the troy ounce 24knecklace hoping to find what fell off of it. I remember saying " just a 10k" once at that hole:lol:

Oh the mesh ring and the little ring are 18k, the signet is 9k. I'm pretty pleased with it still but I want that really big honker. I've never found a big chain before but I'm sure this location has atleast one for me.
The trouble is the goodies only open up for a few weeks a year and you never know exactly when it's peak is but once the peak is past it's too late. I've been hunting it for a few years now, and the main swimming area has never erroded, but if it did I'd take a week off work just to clean it up.
