Nice 925 bracelet made in Italy was the first keeper. Two of the largest ammo cartridges I have ever found were the second. I found them both in the same hole together, wet sand. The waterproof container is marked Nitroglycerine change pills every 2 to 3 weeks and it is full of pills. Finally a stainless ring with Namaste' marked on it. That word originated in India and is a greeting. Nice hunt with beautiful afternoon weather. Does anyone know what weapon fired those huge cartridges? Man they are monsters! I looked them up and they seem to be 50 cal anti-aircraft rounds. One is marked M 43 made by the Milwaukee plant from 1942-1943. The SL 43 was made at the St. Louis plant made in 1943. Someone fired them a long time ago. Cool.

Well no help on the cartridges but great job on finding the jewelry and the pills. Can you imagine if some kid would of found them "oooh candy". GL&HH

You had a seven nitro day:laughing: Should be 50cal.I add those to my scrap bucket.Bullet casings have paid me well. There is some live rounds you'll find as well.A lot of times they appear to have been removed by pliers from a gun jam.I'm guessing they sweep them overboard from the ships.I know my dad has pictures when they used to dive off the sides of the destroyer he was on and go swimming. Some of the guys would cut loose on the sharks by them with 50 cals and put the sharks out of their misery:laughing: Should have some cool pics when i get time to look through his navy photos. Not sure why so many ww2 shells are dumped there? We may be the first to dig deeper into what all that junk came from.Hard to find out much.Should be some navy padlocks down there too. Those you can sell on ebay along with all the keys they discarded in the ocean.Another mystery as well:?: I know they used to use some drone airplanes for target practice offshore.Heck you may find one of those planes.Saw them pull in a jet by shrimp boat during the 70's.The shrimp boat captain had to clean his underwear on the way back out, since it was almost flipping over when it came into port with a navy escort. You see something shaped like a missile, don't call me over to look at it:laughing:

Nice hunt.I found a live 50 cal once. Its mixed in somewhere with all my old finds. One day I'll have to go on a hunt to find all my old finds.

I found (2) two of them .50 cal shells so far on the Jersey shore. Still wondering how the heck they got there since they were found on separate beaches bout an hour apart.

Definitely .50s Ive got a few that Ive found here in bradenton and south. Lots of beaches like ours were used during ww2 as target ranges. Locals here tell of the roads glittering with bright shell casings after they were re opened.
Neat stuff.

Larry, they were not found on penny beach. They were from 18n on the big beach. That end was not replenished so well it appears. Some washed out cuts up there.

.50 cals are common finds on FL beaches. Almost all of the coasts in FL had training bases during WWII. Just off the beaches, barges were anchored for target practice along with practice bombs being dropped. The beaches were strafed with aircraft machine gunfire to simulate invading Japanese Islands.

.50 cal rounds are still used today. You have some old head stamps on them though and where you found them, were indeed fired a long time ago. I fired some WWII .50 cal rounds about 4 years ago. They fired like they were just made.

Ironically, I found two .50cal slugs in the same hole yesterday.. The beaches around here had a few target ranges before they got populated. Some places are completely loaded w/ slugs, 20mm's and copper jackets they make hunting difficult. That's some sweet silver!

Never found shells there.During the last replenish it was some clean sand.At least all of it i searched was.I'd hunt 4 hours and my detector wouldn't go off. After i started cussing i'd hit a gold and silver on the same hunt. After that i started cussing a lot:laughing:

great finds,,,the shells are 50 cal rounds from WWII, Florida had training grounds and we have a beach where I find them when it cuts, I dug three of them Weds.
