Greetings and salutations fellow enthusiasts. I was asked to introduce myself, so here it goes.

My name is Jon, I'm 25 years old and I am almost finished saving up my paychecks for a metal detector (I decided on getting the Garrett Ace 400, so any feedback on members who have used or currently use one would be greatly appreciated) and I cannot wait to get started. I got into the idea about a year ago as a hobby my girlfriend and I could get into, and I look forward to sharing our finds will all of you.

Sorry for the short length of the greeting, but I thought I would keep it simple.

Thanks for having me here.

Relic, welcome aboard from central Massachusetts.

There are a few members here that post well about those new Garrett machines.

Doing a search on the machine should pull in some good reading material.

What kind of hunting are you planning on doing?

Thanks! I was looking up some source material and a review or two. I think I'm sold on it (given my budget for the time being); but I plan on primarily trying to dig up the past. From everyday homestead objects to coins and buttons. I promise I will post my finds once I get started.

I am from New Jersey myself. The town I grew up in was officially founded in the mid-1800's, but people have been living in the area since the early 1700's, so I'm hoping to find some nice relics in the near future.

Welcome, What part of the world are you in?

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I look forward to hearing about everyone's finds regularly, as well as posting my own to share with you all.

Welcome!
Solid detector choice! ;)
Bummer on the timing, the ground seems to have finally frozen.
Being from the Dirty Jerz... If you're thinking about any beach detecting, you might want to consider different detectors. I'm taking my 400 to the beach Thursday when it warms up to the 60's, but I've seen enough videos that I'm pretty sure I'll be limited to detecting in the dry sand only because the Aces seem to hate the salt water.
