I'm going to tell ya how i got started on the lost sites-
the pic attached is 2 seasons of hunt - i actually want to retake the photo as i have more to add
to be clear too i prob already posted this photo - i wanted to include in this write up
3 yrs or so back - i too was watching YouTube watching people like aquachigger - some of the old history guys
& of course many of the guys on here OBN [of course many others here too ]
digging up all this older treasure i too have been hunting since the 90's & miss the old days
we all love to hunt whether it be modern or just old things - or both -
- so what am i doing before research days
same old - drive to 5 beaches - get a few junk rings [if that] & head back exhausted from driv frustrated at nothing good
sometimes u get one decent ring for a 5hr round trip
after doing that a couple days a week [ for years] - i thought there has to be stuff out there - think of all the old spots people congregated on the lake
does it have to be a big beach - no it could have been something as simple as an old dock people hung around & of course on hot summer days swam. so i started asking around [ you know the typical yeah in 1970's & 80's this place was the spot. well some of these spots - there just wasn't anything there - so once again back to square one. ok if that's not a good spot where else can i go - so after a few strikeouts - i started doing more in-depth research - finding some lakes were a waste of time & others were not. first spot i hit that changed everything
i posted on here - i remember that first day. went there think ok this must be the spot - took nox out due to lack of signals-
dug everything - within a few hrs had 2 gold which surprised the heck out of me - but i noticed not many targets- so i kept moving around diff areas- well it turns out u could tell it was hunted [as many are] - but then i hit a spot much further away - suddenly silver showing up
so ok they swam way down here - slow down - maybe a 2nd beach right down from the other. sure enough there was
so i worked this site for a month straight few times a week - fast forward to now - 3 seasons later i have pulled over 380+ silver coins out of there & quite a few gold but yet i was told it was hunted out!! - don't even bother going there!! someday i will do basically a final wrap up pic
to show u what others "thought was wiped out" since then i have researched now a half dozen good spots have have really had some serious treasure in them. proving they are NOT all gone - are they easy no. sometimes it's a trek of 2hrs maybe further[one way] just to see
but i'll tell u- i would rather drive & maybe find a forgotten spot then to almost always go home empty handed
plus i consider it an adventure - also proving it can be done - sometimes i go thinking damn i have got this spot nailed down only to find no access or impossible hunting conditions- or i can't find it - yeah it's frustrating but u move to that backup site & keep looking - i went to this creek [also research] found several silv coins - old tokens - couple pieces of jewelry- no gold hunted it hard too [ mainly just kids ] cooling off
made several trips there - no gold . time to move on -
i wasn't really going to post much of this stuff anymore
but u know what - not everyone gets to see this - it stays locked away in a safe - yeah u show a few friends/family - other than that u lock it up
why not show if off [not for bragging] but to be proud of it - maybe it will click for someone else - some of these things i have found i never even realized what is lost till u actually dig it up - my family is stunned at what i find [from these forgotten sites] i am stunned!!- i never even imagined there could be sites out there like this [still] lost until "you" or I find them. i can tell u for a fact i have another dozen or so promising sites that are on my radar - some lakes have several - i have certainly now found lakes with multiple lost areas [that produce]
think of this - many lakes had small campgrounds - some had cabins[1950's] - some were bulldozed for those huge houses that are now everywhere
some require permission - some do not - some u won't get into - time to move on - i found one beach only 50 yds from the beach that gets hammered daily- 6 gold rings- several silv rings & coins [just another small beach] - maybe this helps a few of you guys that want to give up
obv not everyone will have the type of access to sites - everyone has diff hunt conditions - diff locations [ states] etc..
- but for me if i have to drive - i'll do it
the closest decent beach to me anyway is an hr or more away just to modern hunt - so i'll go further to find the old spots
remember its a hobby - have fun - - i do it for adventure - & now i do it for all the treasure i know is still there!!
good luck -
