Rarest Militia Button of All

Sorry Scott , but that don't even prove its talking about your button (especially without a picture) . all that means is K & HAYDENS *EXTRA* made a Military cuff button at some point , they could have also made patriotic cuff sized buttons , diplomatic cuff sized buttons or even also civilian cuff sized buttons . this book only points out the military ones and without any pictures of more info its still just speculation.

cant have a picture if i have the only one. and they know of military buttons that were made and have never seen one. you really need to school yourself before you speak you really sound like a jacksonian fool.
now I know why AD is so dead and dieing especially if they have a moderator like you trashing all their historical military history. nothing going on AD so you come to Friendly's and trash our military's history what ever your name is jacksonian dan del

Scott again your wrong , I told you I had one as well .

That's what I was going to bring up. This dude is so out of pocket it's not even funny.

At the end of the day it either is or isn't. The ridiculous thing here is that 401k doesn't want to accept the fact "it could be the other" and by no means a "one off" button.

This thread should have been left dead.

Man did I get lucky, I found and bought the National Button Bulletin Nov- Dec 1980 Bulletin, not that I have any what so ever doubt about the primary purpose that world renowned experts has to say about this cuff button and it's maker but hopefully it's more info. I know about these experts as being the top in the field more than I know about the National Button Society but they I'm sure are experts also and I would like to have as much information out there about K & HAYDENS as possible. I understand it is a very unique backmark and will share this info with you when I get the bulletin. I am through with this thread as far as someones ideas. I'm listening to the experts in this field that wrote the book on it. I want to thank the person that helped me the most even though we had different thoughts and that is HEAVYMETALNUT, THANK YOU! Every time he tried to prove me wrong it helped me. His diligent effort with a metal detector is unsurpassed. Keep up the great finds! I have untouched civil war prisoner encampments on colonial ground that we should hunt and your welcome to them. Big area. Anyways the bulletin should be in soon. HH 401K

Copperhead, don't encourage him - this thread should have died a LONG time ago, just like the gag loop thread. I agree with Dave - Congrats on the rarest button of all - now you can retire from detecting! :chaplin:

I will say though that these posts make for quite an entertaining read. :D

Wow,

This was a heated debate that lasted months. All I can say is I actually learned many interesting things on buttons with this thread. Although somewhat hostile at times, I was educated. Thanks to all for the great tidbits of info and references.

This is by far the funniest thread I've ever read. Talk about unreasonable. Why on earth wouldn't the administrator just do away with this incredible mess. Its bad for the hobby.

Part of the reason is in the post just ahead of yours Todd.

Though this has gotten heated and a bit nasty towards each other at times, many of the contributors, yourself included, have brought good points forward and educated many of us who aren't fortunate to live in areas where these type of finds can be made. As long as the criticism is constructive and the name called stays out of it we like to let these threads run their course. (even when resurrected! ;):D)

So what this forum is ok with and allowing is anyone who wants to come on here and proclaim he or she found some "rare" or "one of a kind" item ,without disclosing any kind of substantial proof i might add. That is not a responsible sharing of genuine information it is allowing personal opinions , rumors and possible lies to run rampant .

I did not take an opinion on his button as I have no where near the expertise on the subject to have one! You believe or in fact know it is not what it is stated to be by the OP. I have learned much from what you and others have said about the find. You don't agree with him, you may be correct, just let it go!

Wait so they made exactly 1 button, which this guy claims to have found, and then they just decided never to produce another. That seems plausible to me. Case closed

(insert sarcasm here)

not to change the subject..... but

While i was out this weekend with my md I found a metal bridge spans from nj to ny. ANYONE WANT TO BUY A BRIDGE????? sorry but had to add some humor to the end of this post hopefully..... bridge will be posted on ebay if i get no takers!!!!!!!! Here

Two things that always annoy me about forum posts. 1) Posts that show a picture of a coin or button that is so toasted that it is unidentifable and yet they insist that when they hold it under some light at a particular angle it is some specific item.2) Posts like this one where the orginal poster claims he has found the holy grail and is clueless and ends up passing along misleading info. Thanks to HMN and the other guys who set the post straight.

You dont want the truth, read the response that I posted.

Your response is not in your favor... The response from your expert clearly says that he is not sure and that it "appears militaristic". That is not committing to being a military button.

You have a patriotic button my friend.

There is no need for this to carry on.

No one is insulting your find. People are just trying to educate you.

Believe it or not....
