I'm new to detecting and was wondering if it's worth while to purchase a pinpointer. I recently ordered a XP Deus and it should be arriving in a couple days and I'm anxious to get going but do I need a pinpointer straight out of the shoot?

Don't waste your time on the cheap Harbor freight metal detector that looks like a pin pointer. I tried them, but when I finally got a Garrett pin pointer I found the difference. The garrett pin pointer will speed up your finding the target in the hole or plug by a large factor of using your detector.

If you are serious about finding retrieving good targets and junk quickly you will not regret the modest investment. I learn you need to retrieve junk fast so you can get on with your scanning.
