PinPointer end cap ?

I bought some caps for Garrett end, probably would fit them all ? Just like I use coil covers, I try not to abuse my searching with the " carrot" . I can't remember exactly what they are called, but since I like to hunt woods, might as will buy the cheaper things for protection.

I assume it's called pinpointer protective cap. I have never felt the need to use one as I don't dig with my PP.

mine came from Home depot and they are sold as furniture leg protectors. I just took a pair of dykes and clipped out a bit of the edge to match the ridge on the carrots nose. They have performed great over the years.

End caps are nice if you do any clad hunting in crushed stone parking lots. Gravel can eat up a pointers tip pretty fast.

I use a dip for repairing the handles on some of my tools or to do new tools sometimes. I have wondered about doing the PP with it, not sure how it would hold up. I'll try and wear out my PP and let you guys know. (not really I like my TRX the way it is.)

I've used plasti-dip on the pinpointer, it wears quick in my opinion, even with multiple dips. These are the ones I usually get:
