I would think about changing your name to Johnny South Dakota before you end up with a bunch of new competitors
Judging from his gold ring designs I would say he's maybe (Eastern) Northern Mid-West? Years ago when The Depots Ring daddy was a live and kicking one could really see how different areas of the county's ring designs differed. One guy T-Bone hunted just like JU with similar design gold, always did a lot of driving, he was in Wisconsin, he always and still does well.. like Johnny U... Both work very hard at finding that treasure!

Disclaimer Note - several of these are reposted pics!!

i'm still laughing that was seriously funny as hell!
a few things about me - about 5yrs ago i was becoming frustrated about not finding hardly anything anymore!!
the good ole days were long gone- every beach u went to was empty! or damn close to it- very few finds-
much less any old ones- i saw a few youtube videos where some of these guys were actually having success
with the older spots- that got me thinking a lot about where could "I" find some of that old treasure
so i started looking around- unfortunately very few were near me - but then the more i looked- the more i dug
i can certainly tell u they are out there- are they easy to find -No not Usually.. i strike out a lot on bad sites-
or sites that simply have yet to be located - 1 simple clue sometimes is all it takes- sometimes i analyze areas very hard to see if i am really doing all i can to find it- is it worth that effort - what is the bottom like - some lakes have many sites-
old hotels - did they have just a small little beach? 1 small beach last year- i knew it was old- had a hard time finding it
i hit that area- only finding a few old coins- barber qtr-- few wheaties - few very old rings - no gold yet i was about to change spots on the lake - look for that second spot- when i finally hit a gold- ended up with 4 gold in 1.5 hrs
all very nice- signet - WWI ring etc... now fast forward beach was extremely small total gold 8 [7 in pic] that's it
silv WL half... few silv rings- so even though i have been back a few more times - time to move on
i liked that spot! way overlapped the area too in hopes of a few more- i'm sure i'll b back there again just to make sure
that spot took me quite a few hrs of research to find it-

this pic - for anyone who didn't see it

my best spot
i found by doing a lot of leg work- 38 gold - countless silv rings - medals - 367+ silv coins
including 34 silv halves - 1923 peace dollar - its funny before i found this spot i had only found one ever SLQ - found it chasing hurricane on coast - then lost when we had moved due to a fire- this spot has yielded me 19 SLQ's!!

to me that stuff is cool too - ours are damaged by lakes but not like salt water
it can be old bottles - old swim caps - old swim belts - - old masks of diff types - fishing lures made of wood - brass buckles
especially the ones - that have designs or embossed- obv we cannot display gold-silv in our houses- cameras help- but
obv it has to all stay locked up! -
but i do display & want to display more of the old brass rings-tokens - buckles - etc.. bottles -
i take pride in finding all of this stuff - i am amazed, as is my family as to just how much i have located-recovered
in such a short period due to these new spots
i show it not to brag but because i am damn proud of all of it
i worked my Ass off to find it- i found junk by the pound! - i pull it all out-then next time i don't have to dig that piece
i still have some of these separated by site due to all of the unique cool items i have located
separate boxes - separate display cases etc..
some people never get to see this - i am willing to show pics of it
maybe it helps someone get some ideas as to where to look
before i started researching i thought the good ole days were gone totally-
now i know we can find spots if we look - if someone finds it first move on they are actually out there
or maybe they missed a few good things- or maybe someone thought this spot was way too tough
straight up i have at least 10 promising sites i haven't even had time to look at- or locate too
that can be the most difficult part- obv!
maybe i'll just start an album on here - whomever can view it if they want to
some people obv do live in areas where there are just not these type areas-
so not everyone gets this opportunity- i get that - i don't live in greatest spot
but i will certainly go for a road trip now & then to find one!
am i worried someone will find my spot? - well most of these have been hammered hard so whomever finds will have to work at it - we all know we can't get it all! - some are dark lakes with almost no visibility- not everyone likes this environment- i don't care for it myself but i like my finds
i wish everyone good luck out there!!
- can't find a spot to hunt - do a little research - may just surprise ya,
what you find there!
I too am a solo diver - yeah you aren't supposed to
but i have done hundreds of shallow water dives -
i don't recommend this without adequate training-
things that have gone wrong - & have actually have happened to me
run out of gas in 30ft of water - hookah
hit by a prop - damn near killed me - have the suit which i wear sometimes as a reminder 7mm doubled up saved me
could have easily lost my life or my arm!
NEVER assume there will be no boats near you- you will be Wrong - it only takes once!
too much lead - damn near drowned - always know how to release your weights in an emergency!
be safe & have fun!!
