Nokta legend

Good move, I've had mine for just over a year and I'm still learning. Biggest tip I can give you is get yourself a good location and swing slow. Listen, dig and learn your tones. I can call out coins before I dig, it's the real goodies that that get by us. Location. Listen. Learn.

The 24 is a great coil in tight spots, love it in lots and along fences. Keep swinging.

I agree great little coil. However I don't care for the shaft mount sitting slightly to the rear of the coil. It interferes with coil adjustment when hunting uneven terrain. The cable has a tendency to push the coil back in the same position you just adjusted out of. Also with mount in that place it seems you need to adjust way more than a center mounted coil. That said, I can say it runs very stable at high sensitivity and I have hit 9 inch coins on several occasions, so performance and depth is not an issue. My 2 cents.

Mark(pa) are you talking about the LG15 or LG24? or both?

The 6" round LG15 has a rear shaft mount.

The 9.5 x 6 LG24 has a center shaft mount.

With reading countless comments from Legend users, in regards to comparing the two coils, I don't recall anyone preferring the LG15 over the LG24.

I've had my Legend for about a month now. I really like it. I also have a Deus 1 and NOX 800, I think the legend holds up to its reputation. I have the LG15(6"), LG 28(11" stock), and the LG35(12.5"x13.5") coils.

Since getting the LG24, I have never put the LG15 back on. Separation and depth are similar for both those coils, but the LG24 has significantly more coverage. Plus, I much prefer the center shaft mount of the LG24.

The 11" LG28 round coil and the 12x9 LG30 coil are similar in depth and separation. I prefer the LG24 to both of those coils, because it is much lighter, and has far superior separation performance. Granted, those two coils will go deeper than the LG24, but not as much as some people think, because some don't take the ground signal into account and/or the much tighter electromagnetic field of the LG 24.

What all that means, is that the LG28 and LG30 will go about 2" deeper on a flat coin in the air, but due to those two coils receiving more ground signal than the LG24 does, they end up only going about 1" deeper in the ground, on a coin lying flat.

With the tighter field of the LG24 being more sensitive to small targets than the LG28 or LG30, it means there is very little in ground depth difference between all three of those coils when it comes to edged, or partially edged coins...and I suspect that most coins in the ground are partially or fully edged.

Totally agree with the LG24. Probably sell the round 6". Tell me how you deduced the depth differences between the coils? Test garden? It's something I need/should do. Test coins on the flat, on edge or fully edged at different depths. I think it would make everyone with a newer machine a better detector. I can see the benefit.

Hi Mark.

I test in the air only to see the maximum potential depth, and how it compares to depth loss caused by ground signal.

For the reasons I mentioned in my previous post, depth comparisons between coils is incomplete and misleading, if the test only uses coins lying flat.

If I had a choice I'd probably go LG24 but I'm perfectly happy with the LG15.
You'll cover more area and if I'm not mistaken, the DD shape of the LG24 offers stability (especially in heavily mineralized ground), good depth, sensitivity and a very thorough search pattern requiring less overlap.

I like the LG15 as well, really like it.

Fanboy oh fanboy damage control aisle 6. As I stated the coil mount is slightly to the rear and it does interfere with coil position. If you can't believe your eyes learn to read a tape measure. But hell you think you qualified to offer advice on machines you a have never used and usually its when you're jacking another OPs thread. Please spare us of all that metal detecting wisdom you seem to think you possess.

Jose, never had or looked at the LG15 so I can't speak for that. I do have about 80 hrs on the Lg24 and what I stated was true. The coil is mounted slightly to the rear and the cable does interfere with with coil position. I believe I also said the performance is great. But I do get upset when people think I don't know what I'm talking about, particularly a self appointed expert fanboy.
