I know the legend is already a great unit and probable doesn't need any modes but here goes....

I was watching paystreak the other day. He was swinging the D2 and his buddy was on the legend(or visa versa).

One of the comparisons made was about the ergonomics of the pistol grip and dropped arm support. You know, on the legend, the shaft comes through the lower part of the pistol grip and passes on thought to the arm cuff. The display sits on top of the pistol grip. I hope I described that good enough.

On the D2, the shaft stops at the top of the pistol grip and the arm support shaft comes out from the bottom of the pistol grip.

The statement was made that, it is easier on the arm and shoulder to swing the D2 over the legend because of that design. Not sure about that, input welcomed.

Question is, has anyone thought about, tried, or made something similar to the D2 design handle/lowering shaft for the legend?

It may not make a hill of beans difference on the ergonomics or handing. It's just a gee wiz thought. Is it something to even think about?

Doesn't the D2 have a detachable screen/control panel? I don't look at my screen while detecting unless I'm making changes. I can see where it would be easier to swing. I'm thinking why ruin a good detector just to find out. Go for it!

The controller is detatchable. I wouldn't consider doing that. You wouldn't be able to do that with the legend outside of major citcutry rework.

The only mod I would consider is changing the handle to an arm drop down support like the D2 but that would present its own problems. Doable, but slightly problematic. I don't think there would be any gains except you could say you did it.

It was a thought I should have
let pass like gas and not wast a second thought on or allow to take up screen space on the forum.

I had to stop and think for a bit. My first detector had a handle on top. (ADS7 Garrett) Ergonomically was on the awkward side but doable. The rest of my detectors had the dogleg configuration up until I got the Legend that is straight shaft. IMHO there isn't much if any poor ergonomics between the two. One thing I did notice is the control pad on the Legend is more user friendly opposed to the E-Trac for me that is.

My guess is that it's not the design difference, but the weight difference. BTW, like you, I like pretty much everything about the Legend, especially the tones. The D2 sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
