Getting ready

Hello everyone newbie here just getting into metal detecting and I was thinking about how to get ready for the hunt. I read about coil wires creating false signals when they're close to the coil so I went and got some plastic split wire loom and ran the coil wire straight up the lower shaft to get as much of it away from the coil as possible, then gently looped any extra wire around the top half. I dunno, I just figured maybe it would prevent falsing and also keep the wire from getting snagged and pulled if I go under bushes. Yes? No? Good idea or not?
