That's it ? Where's all the chains & crosses ? They must have washed down the beach. Lol

Wow insane! 😳 I've always liked looking at the jewelry from that time period. Especially ones with gemstones. Any good jewelry pop up? One day I hope to move to one of the Carolinas, and be alot closer in the event mother nature may decide to let me have a turn. This will be decades from now if I make it that far. Huge congrats!

Sorry I posted this on the wrong thread bro .

Ain’t no gold coins going sideways down the beach. I would put money on it. And I could give the long explanation as to why because we did a whole lot of experimenting with coins and violent water. It’s all about surface area, fluid dynamics, and the specific gravity’s of water, sand, and gold. Instead, I will give you the short empirical example of how I know gold coins do not move laterally down the beach. In 5 feet of water, just off the beach, we found 352 gold coins in about a 40 foot diameter. Laying on top of the bedrock. They sat there right in the shore break for 300 years. Countless storms. why didn’t we find them in a line drifting away down the beach? Or even going into the shore for that matter. 300 years 300 coins. 40’ diameter.
6 million minus 20% to the state of Florida , divided by 4 = 1 million 200 thousand a piece , unless the Captain of the vessel gets more cut , not a bad pay day :gettinmoney:Id bet you spent it quick :lol: Happy 1715 fleet anniversary bro . 9 years to this day !

Memories: The Capitana getting close, the press conference, the 1670 you pulled out of the crevice and came up as a single, a handful and display case full at the press conference.

Very few people even try to find lost gold treasure. Even fewer actually find any. Congratulations of a once in a lifetime find.
who was robotcop13 and was Scoundrel part of the search team?

I was the diver who initially came across the coins, and I went on to recover all but 15 of them. One time I came up with 40 or so gold coins in my glove. Another time I came up with two Royals, each one tucked into the wrists of my wetsuit. We worked the site for four for five days and then filled in our hole. We knew we left coins behind.
We knew we could have possibly even left a royal behind. We weren’t worried about it. We knew they weren’t going anywhere. We were going to get them the next season and we did. We pulled another 13 coins out of that spot. It was the adventure of a lifetime. I am very fortunate that the opportunity even opened up for me. I got to live a pirate’s life for four summers.🏴‍☠️

That's just... wow. I think that if I had found that I may as well have not found any treasure at all from a "how valuable is it"
point of view, because I don't think I could ever let any of it out of my hoard...

That is an absolutely beautiful sight!

It is rare that we get to talk to team members of such a great recovery. You guys did what most of us can only dream about. Very few people actually go out there and just do it. It is like winning the olympic gold medal after preparing for it your whole life. Are you still active with diving?

Yeah, except I didn’t prepare for it my whole life. I kind of just stumbled into it.
The biggest reward for me is the fact that we are now a chapter in the story of the 1715 fleet. I remember reading about David Luke before I started diving. He was a thief, yet there is a chapter dedicated to him, in almost every book of the 1715 fleet. There is a spot on the reef today named after him that they still pull treasure out of. I remember thinking how cool it would be to be a part of the 1715 story to the point that they would put it in the history books.

I'm just a local beach hunter who with the fellow in the first photo got to witness this epic find, While Scoundrel was under the boat working and popping up every couple of minutes with glove fulls of gold coins we were standing on the beach about 18 feet from the stern getting adrenaline rushes that felt like mini heart attacks. I still remember every conversation we had with Jonah and Danny, jokes, hysteria, getting the count, etc. when the adrenaline ran out it just became surreal. A squall rolled in on the first day and it was time to book it. Scoundrel popped up and came to the beach to grab the beach anchors and his adrenaline rush came all at once at that time and we had to calm him down, afraid he was going to have a heart attack, Good times.

Ok , so now the mystery is solved how Gold coins end up on the beach. The crew just throws them to you. How many did you catch Robo ? I can only imagine the adrenaline pumping through the veins of everyone nearby. Could be dangerous if not controlled.
