I just started detecting around late Nov of 23. I had to find a boundary market so I went to Harbor Freight and picked up the little 9 function job. I found my markers and started playing then. Found out I love doing this.

After research, I bought my first "real" beginner detector, the Fisher F22. Now I really started having fun.

(Quick side note, took the HF back for a refund. Then I found the F22 local on FB for$100 with a pointer, so.... the F22 went back to Amazon. The F22 from FB saved me money and had been finding it since).

Been having so much fun, but to the point. I had a cool find behind my church along with about $8 in change. Ill let y'all see.

Glad you're here! I think a certain Fireman is looking for something he lost! I wonder how that happened.

:fmdfwelcome: Thanks for joining us! When my brother & I were new to detecting, we, too, used the HF 9-Function. For the relatively inexpensive price, it gave us a fun start to the hobby! And it looks like you've had a great start, too. The fire department badge is a nice find... can you tell us any information on it?

Thanks for the welcome.

I actually returned the badge to the fire department. I know what it means to someone who carries a badge. They said it was an old one but had never actually seen one. They didn't even have one in their display case.

I left it with them to give to the chief. They said if he hadn't seen one, they would send it up to Brigade to determine it's age. They believe it was an old hat badge.

It was a once in a lifetime find I'm sure. If nothing else, it can go back in their display case. I might even get a place to detect through it.

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!

Follow up.

According to the FD, this type of badge was last worn in the 70s. It may be older but thats when last worn. It is now in the display case.
Nice job! Thanks for the update. It must be gratifying to know you've not only contributed to the display, but you've also showed support for your local fire department; and furthermore, it looks like you've served as a good representative of the hobby. :waytogo:
