Hello RJ and welcome to the forum!
I know this is an old post but I split my time between Slidell and Luling area where we stay. I'm in Slidell from time to time if you're still looking for someone to hunt withMy name is RJ Russell and I am a 27 year old married father of three in Slidell, Louisiana just outside New Orleans. I have had an interest for sometime now, but just recently got my first metal detector (Garret Ace 250). I am excited to get started and move past my yard...lol. I have only found construction trash and one penny thus far. Can't wait to make my first great find and post it here for yall to see.
Welcome from Atlanta, GA. Good 1st choice. My adult son used an Ace 250 on CW relic hunts with me. I used my 800. I thought I would really outshine him with the latest and greatest metal detector on the market at that time. Hah, he found just as much good stuff as I did and sometimes more. Why, because at that time, I really didn't understand the many settings on the 800. At that time I was not smart enough to just stay in the stock settings which is what all newbies to the 800 should do for quite a while. The Ace 250 is a decent detector, long proven and easy to learn. The 800 is anything but easy to learn in my opinion. Keep hunting, do your research to find good places to hunt and you will find some good stuff. My name is RJ Russell and I am a 27 year old married father of three in Slidell, Louisiana just outside New Orleans.
