cfuller3 - Can you detect at Coldwater Lake campground? I think my brother did some checking online and found there was no detecting allowed on the beach of the campground, but he could have been mistaken. I grew up in the Weidman area and have been swimming in Coldwater Lake many times. I've been detecting a few sites in Weidman with some luck.

From just SE of Lansing here.
And my last good find (a 1907 Barber quarter) came from an old school sports field. So depending on the age of the school and how hard it has been hunted, there can be some really good stuff at school yards.

If the school grounds are old enough you can find some older coins in addition to lots of clad. I've found several wheat pennies and one 1950 Roosevelt dime. Also I've found some interesting junk jewelry - I found an interesting owl ring tonight. Some members on here have been lucky enough to find silver and even gold jewelry on school grounds.

And don't forget all the 9mm bullets and casings.
