My Deus 2 feedback and commentary, comparison videos, videos, pics

Okay, continuing on with the Notch feature, there is also no Expert setting for the Notch feature using the WS6. So a user can only set one notch not three like can be set on the full Deus 2 remote.

I can totally get not having the XY screen and a backlight on the little WS6 display along with a couple of other things that are water related like no bone phone use, etc. Not having the same Notch features seems to either be an oversight or really punitive for folks that aren't submerging and diving with Deus 2.

Sounds like Xp needs to list the differences so folks won’t be misled.
I may do another video showing this. So folks are informed.
So basically person can’t for example set a nickel window then move notch to accept copper and silver?

Tell you what. Let’s put a list together. OF the differences.

So far can’t turn notch off using WS6
Have only one notch versus 3 with remote use.

No Pinpoint ? I see it now.
No bone conductive headphone option.
No external speaker.
No backlight

Keep looking and adding.
I’ll put list together as a whole.
Then do video.

So far, I can only set one notch. I like Rattlehead's Silver Slayer program for some of my sites. That program cannot be set on a WS6. At least with Deus 1, I could set up that program on my remote and then transfer it over to my WS4. Can't do that with WS6.......

Let me experiment with my remote and ws6.

Best I can tell no program transfer from Deus 2 remote to WS6.
Unlike Deus 1.
One would have thought they would have made Deus 2 as capable here as Deus 1.
So folks leaving their Deus 2 remotes at home and taking WS6 detecting- beware. Your custom programs saved via remote not available using WS6.

Pinpoint works great and you use the same button.
Ground balancing is easy.
Frequency Scan is easy.
Setting tone pitches and tone breaks is really easy.

Notch Off and no expert menu meaning only one notch can be set are the big ones.

The other big one is the User Profiles are also kind of weird. On WS4/Deus 1 they would show up as programs 9 to 18 or whatever it was. On the WS6 you can only set one custom program for each program. They show up as a second Gen, Sensitive, Fast etc. program just after the factory program with a user profile icon next to the factory program number and name. So if I wanted to have two different custom programs based on Deep HC or Gold Field......can't do that. You can definitely do that on the Deus 2 remote. I could fill up all of the slots with programs just based on Deep HC if I wanted to for instance.

Not having full remote programs transfer over to the WS6 and letting it be capable of being a standalone seemed like a great idea and just what Deus Lite users had been asking for. However, there are some big limitations doing it this new way that I wasn't expecting. If they don't want to at least add these missing Notch features to WS6 and improve sensitivity for small gold nugget prospecting using GoldField.......I may just sell this Deus 2 Lite and go back to the ORX or Deus 1......

Well,
Guess I got a beach hunting technique named after me - Tnsharpshooter Gold Deus 2 stealth hunting beach style.
Basically using beach sensitive and dive programs to expose if target is lower or higher conductor.
Look around there is some video showing.

Ironic uh.
Beach hunting technique named after gent from backwoods TN who has done zero salt beach hunting.
Maybe this is what I’ll be remembered for down the road.
Monti has Monti’s nail board.
Now I got my thingy.

Btw I mentioned this months ago here in beach forum. Folks didn’t seem to like or appreciate.
They may change their minds and try.
I know I would.

Dave, you can use either the new Deus ll or older Deus l antenna wires. The end of the wire just needs to be within about 6” of the WS6.

Thanks for getting in touch with XP and for posting their quick response. Sounds like a new update (V0.8) is not too far away. Look forward to it.

I've used the antenna with the WS4s on my Deus 1.
I used zip-ties to attach the antenna to the Deus shaft under the handle and out the backend. Then in a fairly large (not tight) loop under my arm and up to my baseball cap where it zip-tied to the cap.
Maybe not ideal but works.
