Manticore 1st Hunt

No gold chains? Lol! Way to go! For sure some old gold. Manticore is going to get better for you after you swing it a bit. M11 stock coil? I'd think about the M9 for water hunting and on land IMO. I can't make myself take the M9 off. May try a hunt with the 11" for a couple hunts to see if it wants to act right. Don't have the M8 coil to know how it works.
question?
you use manticore much in freshwater?
i've was using the m11 this time - but i had m9 on for other water hunt
i've yet to experiment much with settings - i certainly will
landed a unique find i will soon post it
GL

the rings kept on showing up scoop after scoop in the sifter
that makes it easier to keep hunting!!

almost no old coins!
yeah very few old coins at this beach
although i pulled a barber 1911 dime
one buffalo -- two v nickels - few mercs
that's it other than wheat pennies
how's the old gold out there in the bay?
we always want to see those you find!
most of the gold out of this place very old
dated wedding band last week 1940's 14k
most are OLD signet i'm sure i'm missing some deep ones
still there - i'll be back!
Love seeing gold in the sifter.. You need to get a Go Pro and start saving memories..

That is crazy no coins but I did have one beach like that in 2019/2020.The reason I discovered was, by looking at all the pictures I seen everyone had to wear that beaches swim ware and they had a bath house. So that meant all the coins stayed in their street ware clothing (that stayed in the bath house), and the beaches swim ware had no pockets. I did find several locker keys and looking at the pictures you can see some wore their locker keys on a necklace. That beach was my best beach ever (150+GR's) and maybe the oldest gold I've found came out of there (Oct 3 1861).

The place I'm digging gold now is more modern, mostly 40/50/60's and you can really tell the people had a different taste in gold. This spot does have the silver coins too, average about 10 each trip.. The only bad is I have to go by boat and play the lowtides. Which may happens about once every two weeks..

I'm guessing but does the water get cold in Utah?

maybe i should rename myself - LOL...
i know everyone thinks i'm in Utah- its really from "Point Break"
movie KOB knows this well ..

as far as Go Pro defin should use as i would have some crazy cool memories
worst part is I have one! - i'm going to start using it
location i'm in midwest where yes the water is damn straight cold!!
i explore deep water & shallow water both - by deep i mean up to 25ft..
sometimes pitch-black water - sometimes decent Visibility
went out this weekend
1 piece of gold buried deep- will post shortly!
damn another chance for a great video! - i notice most of you guys in cold water wear
the rubber gloves - there is another option that works well XS scuba dry gloves
try them - i used them & was underwater for just over 3hrs!
i have done dives as long as 9hrs in cold water- no not at same time
change tank every 1.5 hrs- shallow under 30ft equals no rest periods in between dives
my dive yest was only 15ft - yes the water was very cold
dry suit certainly helped - dive hood was a must!
& i certainly felt the cold! prob around 44 deg water right now
i have dove in 34deg water!! that is painful!!
& i have done it in a wetsuit- doubled up to 14mm chest area - 7mm legs & arms
not for the faint of heart - LOL... unless its a HOT spot not doing anymore! or i say i won't!
the post with the 17 rings that was all shallow water hunting
some of my spots are so damn far away i rarely get to hunt them
& they are phenomenal spots too-
Everyone GL Out There!

that beach- 1861 dated ring amazing - astounding amount of gold at that beach
my oldest dated 1891 - 1865 indian same spot 1900 barber half

my spots i do a lot of leg work[as do you guys] & i keep them very secret because they are quite small in comparison
to beaches you guys have
i have only found a few beaches with 30 + gold
most others are usually far less - now you recall i have a beach i have dug almost 500 swim buckles at!!
1923 Peace Dollar - my one & only silv dollar!
i believe there is very deep gold there, i am certainly missing- i am formulating a plan to get at it!
spring i will know! - or hmmm maybe a few "extra" cold water explorations! LOL..
i won't be laughing in the water!! though- unless i find that "gold" funny how that seems to warm ya up
even in an ice cold lake!!

XS scuba dry gloves
I video tape everything now, launching the boat, trip there, hunting and than the trip back. I don't post a lot on Youtube, for these video's are for me.

Amazing you can dive in that cold water, I can do the 35 degree waters for about 4 hours (waist to chest deep) but I have a lot invested in gear to keep me warm. At 73 I need the heated vest, gloves and socks under the drysuit. Here are the gloves I use, SI Tech dry glove system. The gloves are just window washing gloves, cheap and they last for years.

thx for the video
i'll defin have to try them !!
question on the heater vest - how long does the batt last?
my understanding was if i was underwater for hrs at a time it will do me no good
lets say i do 4 dives - approx 6hrs
vest be good for first few hrs then freeze!!!
never found a great solution for this

Factory batteries on full about 2 hours, I do make my own batteries and I can get about 4, same with the gloves. Factory batteries are expensive and cost over a hundred dollars, which all you do is take the original pack, break it down and check the voltage, plug style and make your own li-ion pack. Here is the battery pack for the vest, I do need to make a water/sweat proof container for this.. what is interesting is the heat elements they use in Vest and gloves, its carbon fiber. The connection between the carbon fiber and copper wire will go bad over time from sweat, so its a easy fix if you know what the weak link is. Vest and gloves usually last about two years.

great info!
may have questions later on vest- thx
i tried hand warmer- weird air reaction due to possible compression- damn near burned the hell out of me
obv i should have wrapped that hand warmer first - now i know

Never tried it. Too many gators get fed by people illegally still where I am. They like to come check humans out. When I was young a guy was fishing by me swimming and he had a stringer of fish. A 11 foot gator launched out of the water and came after him. It left with his stringer of fish. I haven't swam in fresh water in Florida since. I'd rather take my chances with Bull sharks in salt water. This one was just sunning by my grocery store the other day

i was often wondered which lakes i could safely dive in FL as i have spent time down there b4
i'm thinking not worth the risk!!
