Legend detector now on Nokta Makro site

I also did a pre order on the Legend

as far as manuals are concerned people should have seen the manual that cane with the gold monster GM 1000 from mine lab it was pretty much useless and you had to pretty much figure things out for yourself I was one of the first to receive the GM 1000 i had to rely on testers to get the info as to how to use it

there was a video on kellyco where Delik stated the manual would be up in about a week she thought that was last week she stated they were still translating it to English that was about a week ago

I do not understand why people want to bash things before they have ever had a chance to use or worse yet have never even had a detector in their hands I truly believe the Legend is going to be a fantastic addition to the detectors I already have and am looking forward to getting my hands on it

I did not preorder, simply because of lack of information on the product. I would really love to see this machine succeed but I fear " Somethings rotten in Denmark "or in this case Turkey. C'mon, you mean to tell me there is not a software program out there that could not translate in a few hours. We're not talking about the scriptures for pete's sake. Its just a manual. Then she said we're making adjustments that our testers have suggested. Shipping probably won't be till next month. There is something else going on, maybe trying to rush the product to market a little too soon. Just my thoughts. Mark

Well that's always a possibility I have never owned a Nokta/Macro detector but everything I have ever read about them they really do not put things to market with out it being good to go they have also been a company that listens to their customers from everything I have ever heard or read about them Maybe just maybe they are trying to get it rite from the start and you are just over thinking it, I myself am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt I just want them to make sure everything is rite before they start shipping out

I know when I purchased my GM 1000 i did a pre order on it and it was months before I received it, and the so called manual was non existent for it and they did not have to translate anything for English, I will appreciate the fact that they are even putting out a manual for the legend

Question for you if it were mine lab would your thinking still be the same or would you just say (oh well its mine lab so no need to question) just something to ponder

The other thing Delik plainly stated is the Legend is still in the testers hands which means the final product is not complete would you ever put out a manual on an incomplete product I think not no one would and that includes mine lab if you did not do a pre order why are you so worried about a manual .

When ML introduced 600 and 800 with their stupid sky diving video, no one saw a machine for 4 to 6 months!!!! Please go back to sleep....

Nok/Mak said online that the Legend was better than the Nox in some departments, but wouldn't say what it was better at, then deleted their answer.
Would you buy a new car from a salesperson who said their car was better than the competitors, but wouldn't tell you how it was better?
Personally, reading between the lines, I'd guess it falls short of the Nox performance and will be marketed as giving buyers a choice/cheaper alternative.
If it was better Nok/Mak would be be shouting that fact from the roof tops, but instead they made a video showing it had a clock and an LED light while the Nox didn't.

I think Dilek was spot on! Others contacting them and saying "because it's not out yet I'm buying XYZ brand instead". MineLab announced their new NOX detectors and didn't ship for 4 months!!!! Me thinks you are wet behind the ears my friend. Grow up child....

She was very unprofessional in my opinion. I’m sure the machine will work fine and I never said anything about ship time, just her professionalism that’s all. To call me a child seems much more immature than anything I stated in my original post.

Reality can be an interesting viewpoint we take Such as there are a lot of single frequency detectors on the market, some have been around for several years, and summer newer, and they were quite well they satisfy the needs people have and they find stuff.

Another reality check is that SMF detectors are promoted as having certain strengths, such as handling wet salt water beaches, and depending upon the detector they might do well at other applications. But they aren't perfect nor are they the best for every detecting task which is why most of the better quality SMF detectors also provide user-selectable Single Frequencies.

One reality I am very aware of is the buikd quality and performance of several Nokta products. I have been using my FORS CoRe for 7 years next month, and it will turn 6 years with my FORS Relic. I keep their smaller coils mounted full-time and haven't found a detector yet that I like that can out-perform then when it comes to unmasking in very dense ferrous debris.

I have owned almost all their models and also have the Simplex + for times I might work a fresh water beache or be out in potentially wet weather.

I am waiting for a User Manual to be available, and I did appreciate the info from Dilek in the video announcement of a pending new model, The Legend. We all know the massive appeal of the Equinox 800 and that it would be the primary target for Nokta/Makro. I am willing to wait and see how close they came, and really hope The Legend has some increased performance in iron-handling. We will see.

Have not been sleeping. Quite the contrary, I have been watching things closely. And if you read my post you will see I said I want this machine to succeed. However if I smell B.S. I call it. And by the way YOU said it right, Minelab introduced the Equinox in Sept. 2017, it was just that, an introduction, not a release video. They said it was in its final stages and would be released as soon as possible. And by the way, they had the manual out well ahead of the first shipping so you could learn about the then new Multi-IQ. One more thing, I am not brand loyal, if Nokta can build a better machine, I'm in. So yeah, not sleeping.

oldkoot, Good morning. First let me say I am not brand loyal, I want the best machine I can afford. The Equinox has done that pretty well so far. And I agree with you, Minelab could do better when it comes to customer satisfaction.
From everything I've heard and read, Nokta builds a good product and listens and is upfront with the customer. This is why I find the current PR strange. I also agree I want Nokta to get it right. If it can address the Equinox's shortcomings I will buy one. What I was saying that maybe it ain't ready, and a rush to market could be the cause. As far as the manual, its the key to learning a new machine. The sooner you can familiarize with the menu and settings saves you time from fumbling around out in the field. Pre released manuals from other companies will usually state that specs could change due to final adjustments. Happy Holidays, Mark

This is exactly how I feel. I have a degree in communications and have worked in the pr field as well as consulting for others. I was just really disappointed in her strategy to attack to sell. I realize that minelab claimed single frequency obsolete and that isn’t a fact, however it is interesting that nokta is now following that lead while “pissed” her words that minelab said that. That’s my main gripe. I too am no fan boy. I tried the simplex and it sounded like I was in the mars attacks movie wasn’t a fan. The deus 2 would be something I would love to own. And I hope this “legend” which in itself is a massive claim and appears excessive in branding, however I hope it does succeed. One thing I agree with her on is competition helps us all. That being said being too aggressive can cause a backlash as it appears they are seeing.

Your constant defense (mud guy that called me a child) seems much more biased then most. I know the nox isn’t the best machine on the market. However your blind faith seems the opposite and extremely linked to said affection for there brand.

You may not be a child but friendliness (Friendly Forum) does not readily appear in your posts either.

So, you don't care for Dilek, her marketing skills or her strategy.........

Nokta Makro does not post much on this forum although Nokta Detectors is a current user name. Dilek regularly posts on another detecting forum where she is not directly or indirectly attacked (for whatever reason) and she answers individual questions and asks for technical suggestions through topics and private messages.

Coiltek Coils has a representative who sometimes comes on the same forum to answer questions much like Steve Goss from Steve's Detector Rods. Two White's reps used to regularly appear on that forum too. I personally really appreciate their willingness to do this. I really appreciate the dealers (who are detector users too) that are members and regular contributors to that forum.

Maybe responses like yours are one of the reasons that more detector marketing and engineering reps decline to appear on forums.

I don't care how Dilek looks, how she comes across, how she does her job. I do care and really appreciate that I can send her a respectful private message or directly ask a question on a certain detecting forum and she responds fairly quickly. That is customer service from a company that obviously and openly cares about its customers enough to directly converse and actually learn from them.

I take Dilek at her word. The NDA will be lifted on the final group of field testers later this week (Christmas weekend 2021) so they can post videos and the manual will be released either this week or next week. If that can't happen she will let everyone know.

Not sure how criticism is construed as unfriendly but ok. I never said anything on her appearance either. Just her divisive and direct attacks as well as overall aggressiveness was disappointing that’s all.

Also I try to be kind to all on here. As for a manufacturer their feelings are not in my realm of consideration nor their opinion if I am either friendly or not.
My intention isn’t to upset any member but to point out what I perceive as lack of professionalism and tact.

Nokta IS a member of this forum. I guarantee you that Dilek reads every word of every post on this forum that concerns Nokta Makro products and their direct competitors.

Although they are a manufacturer, they have gone out of their way to directly converse with customers on a very human level.

I think they were a bit to hasty in announcing this detector. They have been teasing it and it's release time frame for awhile now. Which was probably a mistake on their part. My guess It kind of forced them into announcing before they all their ducks in a row.

I mean why announce if like she said they are still getting feedback from field testers. Why start pre-orders when you may still be tweaking things. Just saying. Who knows
it may be a great detector.

I could speculate or just go by what Dilek said.....they wanted to tweak a few software type things that were suggested by the final round of independent field testers BEFORE writing and releasing the final version of the manual and releasing the Legend.

They could have added addendums to the manual later along with releasing updates soon after the initial roll out like many detector companies including Nokta Makro have done.

However, the Simplex was the testing platform for the physical shell for the Legend and has been very extensively tested by many of us as owners on this forum and Nokta Makro made some major changes to it after release. So, the Legend prototype both internally and externally (Simplex) has been in development for quite awhile according to Nokta Makro and is not an afterthought or a need to quickly get something into the market to compete.

Well I hope she takes my opinion as just that. Sometimes over aggressive tactics can bite ya in the butt. But it also can be extremely rewarding. I just thought to be so focused on a competitor and continually bring them up seems like you are trying to achieve there success and that appears either driven or envious depending on how that message is perceived and or delivered. My hope is it’s a great machine and drives companies like garret and fisher to get more modern as well as drive minelab and xp to continue to push the limits.

That is the most interesting thing I've read in this thread! Thanks, looking forward to the NDA being lifted and hearing from people that are testing these machines.

Dilek and Nokta Makro's marketing have directly "gone after" three direct competitors openly in their marketing pitch=XP Deus ll ......price, Equinox.....just about everything, Garrett APEX....discounted it both in interviews and in that short ad video as not even close to being in the same league.

I'll give an opinion on their approach to the Legend marketing: feisty confidence bordering on arrogance. Personally, I don't like it either but that is just me, I am not Mediterranean, and I don't market or sell metal detectors.

I agree 100% on all this as well and feel the same.

this whole thread has me laughing.
yes I did a pre order on the legend but i did not do it because I believe the legend will make all other detectors obsolete or that I believe it will be the greatest detector ever produced, for me I did it because I have always wanted to try a Nokta/Macro detector and the price point made me pull the trigger also my current detectors are pretty old both purchased in early 2010 one of those two has barely been used I just keep it around for a loaner when friends or family wants to hunt with me the other I have used extensively and know it like the back of my hand my fear with it is the age because we all know that electronics can just fail with out notice at anytime.

Why this whole tread and a lot of the replies make me laugh is because i remember when the Equinox was released and the statement was made by Mine Lab how it was going to make all other detectors obsolete (Which it did not) i remember reading similar post and threads bashing mine lab for that statement its just human nature to find fault in everything I guess

I am willing to wait and see and believe me if it is not a good detector I will give my thoughts on it but I will also give my good thoughts just like I did with the AT PRO which in my opinion was one of the most over hyped detectors to hit the market Me and it never did mesh together and I am not saying the ATP is a bad detector because i did find some good finds with it I just never had the same experience with the ATP that others were posting up My ATP would not hit a 6 inch dime let alone a 10 inch dime and believe me I gave it a good chance now the garret pin pointer I purchased at the same time in 2010 I cant say enough good things about it and it is still going strong
