Found this small charm yesterday (along with 2 other charms and 100 modern coins) in a park. It was about 2 inches down and registered a solid 07 25 on my machine.

Yeah I know. Just wait till you get into the very small lead split shot sinkers. I have had them read out as a dime.

I've picked up shotgun shot with my MXT. Talk about a real pain in the arse.

I've picked up some very small targets with my Hawkeye. Some of the small coins are only about the size of a small fingernail. Trouble is, you get a signal, dig up a clump of earth, then lose the signal completely !! I've spent ages trying to find some of the small items, even when it's been in my hand

That happens to me Gil all the time and what I do it skim the surface sand after it drops thru and walk it to shore and find it that way... Doing so I have recovered 2 really nice stud earrings  but most of time when that happens they are bullets or brads

Craig, try putting a wad of stainless steel screen inside your scoop when the need arises. Another method would be to carry a square of fiberglass screen. Insert it into your scoop, when the scoop is full, remove the screen and sand bundle, sift it in the water like a tea bag or check its contents on shore. Just my 'Ingenuity" talking. :D
