Is It Gold? Round II (Results Are In!)

Thanks everyone. I wouldn't tumble this ring as the "stone" is a little loose already. A dremel with a wire wheel will clean it up pretty easily. I have used it on another gold ring. Usually either clr, hot peroxide, baking soda will get to be all gold color. This thing was nasty.

As far as returning it, a quick google searched showed at least 4 schools with the same name. Having initials and a year may help but I am not sure I want to put that much effort into it. I have returned 2 rings in the past 8 months, and while it was a great feeling, I am not trying to return finds. I will help somebody find something or if it's a fresh drop and they posted it on cl, I would return it. But the person is 68 years old, and could probably care less, or even remember a ring they had 50 years ago.

And the winner is...nobody! Nobody completely nailed the date and metal together. Crumbles post within five seconds of me posting the thread nailed the date though!

This nice class ring Fatty, my first class ring, is 10K yellow gold, weighing in at 10.9 grams. Thomas A Edison High School, 1963. I cleaned it as much as I could, without a dremel, as my friend is borrowing mine. It's still really crusty. Kind of weird it's the same thing on both sides. Not even sure what the image is for, running?

Thanks for playing everyone!!

that has DEFINATELY been in the water a while, the oldest 10k gold I found was actually a wedding band that was tarnished almost like silver and dated 2/11/71,,,,,,congrats on an old fatty,,,,,,if you found the owner it would be an amazing thing for them to see it again,,,,,,GL HH
