If you want to find gold chains, buy an excalibur?

Found this puppy marked 750 today. Reckon it's been down there an awful long time, long enough for the sand around it to concrete itself around the chain.
Rang up as a sound on the excalibur.

PS - yes it was in the hole with other stuff
PPS - No it's not rusted.

Absolutely stunning vivid colors. What will you do with it , keep it that way or melt ?

:dingding:That's gotta be in the running on here for most tarnished 18K. :wow: Can't wait to see it cleaned up. Congrats!

BTW - Other than my recent monster chain, I did find a more modest-sized one last year with an Excalibur and it had no pendant.

What kind of tone LJ? looks to me like it was sitting next to something else that has long ago dissolved... I like the find though its really cool just the way it is or was

It gave a mid tone, but very broken and hard to get to repeat.

I wouldn't have gotten it 12 inches down in the rocks if it wasn't for the coins in there. I kept getting signals so I just kept digging

I had that happen to me with my GT... had a strange tone partial mid-tone with a higher tone mixed in.. first target was a quarter second a gangbangers chain... I had posted sounded like a cats tail stuck in a meat grinder lol... it was about a foot down the coin shallower...

Awesome find for sure. I like the the way it looks in the pic. Reminds me of ship wreck treasure. Well done.

I just can't believe the colors and tarnishes of your finds your stuff is either way older than we get in california or it's like your water has different minerals in it

Nice chain congrats on such a cool find. Last season I was hunting a swimming hole and got a nice signal with my excalibur..as I lifted the scoop out of the water I noticed a very fine thin gold chain hanging out of the scoop...after congratulating myself on a job well done it was then that I remembered that I had heard high tone and not a low tone...it was then that I noticed the dime in the scoop lol.

strick

I probably would have left that alone if I was the lucky finder...what a stunning range of color...congrats on the outstanding recovery!
I would keep a few as interest pieces for the same reason, however i've found once they're out of salt water they lose that amazing pop of colour. like it will still look amazing and green/red/blue, but not as bright. I don't know if its exposure to oxygen or something, but it happens in minutes. after a few weeks the patina will start to flake off as well

So I just checked on it's cleaning progress. most of the crust is gone there's just a little left on the clasp. Weight was 10.3g and I reckon there's wouldn't even be 1g in the remaining patina. Surprising how heavy it is in the hand.

And here she is, no polishing needed just a soak to get the crud off. I have to say, it's surprising how heavy it is for such a fine chain even if it's long. Amazing how gold can remain unchanged even after so long in harsh conditions.
