I found my biggest gold ring with my new Nox!

Wow your Toad, your post conjured up an evening Mud Puppy response! A rarity indeed!

 Unusual indeed!...It was Bingo Night down at the Old Folks home and It was my turn to pull the balls. Big responsibility, I'm still pretty amped up about it, came to the Forum to maybe see some pennies and relax..didnt expect this at all! Had to log in and Congrat the Toad! Heck, this excitement here might keep me up until Carson comes on!

Very nice honker. Did you know a 10.00 gold coin also rings up as a zincoln?

That is a major problem with machines. They THINK they know. Only way to know for sure is to dig.

Wowzers!! That’s a sweet honking ring, congrats!

I'm not quite up to your big chain you pulled out the other day, but I'm trying:laughing:
Shoot now I have to dig all pennies.
sadly,
Thats a nice find right there. Congratulations.
Thank you!
Tooooaaaadd! Outstanding heavy!

Looking forward to hearing more from you about what you think of this rig...since you also swing the F70 as I do...I have some wonderings as the NOX would be my first Minelab as well...I sure would like to try one out on the 'hop coil' treatment..! Maybe I'll have to drive on down!
Considering I only have one hour on it thus far, all I'm going to say so far comparing to my f70 is that this rig is quieter and "smoother" if that makes any sense.

I'd be honored if you came down Mud! Heck I'd even call the local bingo association up and see if they'll let you pull some balls while your down here...it's every thursday evening:lol:
That is one huge gold ring. Great job!
Snatched from the grasp of Mother Earth!
Thank you!
Well !!!! guess I'm back at digging pennies lol. nice find
Yeah, I pass up a lot of zincolns too, just happens I had a brand new machine and wanted to learn the numbers. Thanks!
very nice!
Thank you!

One more thing about the nox: I, personally, found it very easy to pinpoint with. The separation is so good I don't even use the pinpoint button(I did try it and it works very well), but I just X the target and it's right there at the X. Same thing as you would do with a tesoro compadre or mojave.

Nice whopper gold, congrats! Soooo 10k honkers come up as zinc pennies? well that's a bummer...:(

Toad beat me to it but I did some bench testing after getting the Nox this week and yes, a few of my gold rings fell right into the same ID range as zinc :( pennies. Nice gold btw- congrats!!!

:dingding: Congrats on the honker!

I can't believe this!... This ring was the third target I dug. It rang up as 20 and I remembered that 20 was a zinc penny and that's what I told my daughter (who was with me). I couldn't believe it when I flipped the plug and saw gold! Only 2" down. It's a Jostens 10k Gardner Webb class ring! Didn't find much else. I had been over that same area many times in the past and probably had my coil over it, but didn't dig it because I thought it was a zincoln.

And this is why I dig penny signals and don't care for digital readouts!

Very nice and a helluva honker. Its kinda funny how your other detectors might have sounded off but you didn't dig because you thought it was a penny, now the Nox sounded off and you still thought it was a penny but dug it anyways :) Guess it just goes to show we should dig everything that beeps :D Either way nice recovery.

Holy Crapoli, that is truly a HONKER!
Now I get to wax on about why I dig everything!!!
Injuns can sound like zincolns too:yes:

Thank you! I have around 10 gold rings that I just tested. Depending on the size and thickness they came in anywhere from 5 up to 21. So yes, you just never know...it pays to dig!
and she's 1/3 paid for, Nice find!
That's what I told my wife:lol:
:dingding: Congrats on the honker!

I'm very lucky when it comes to finding gold rings. Plus I was digging most every signal to learn the machine. Same thing happened when TNSS loaned me his Rutus Alter 71...found 4 gold rings with it because I didn't know what was what with the VDI numbers so I was digging all solid signals at first.

I will say I enjoyed the nox. It's my first minelab and it ran super quiet and is nicely balanced. Was running factory preset park 2, but I did do a ground balance instead of the preset GB.

Update on this post:
I now know why the nox was running so smoothly and quietly even though I know that soccer field has tons of trash in it....The night before when I turned it on for the first time I tossed a coin on the floor just to see what it sounded like, but I turned the sensitivity down to 10 being in the house and all. Well, when I ran it at the soccer field I forgot that it saves the sense settings when you turn it off. I had been running it at 10 the entire time in the soccer field!:doah: Still hit nicely on a few pennies, the ring and a nickel:lol:

Wow !!! Really nice heavy ring. I found an 28 gram 10K Aggie Ring this week. Must be the week for Honkers !!! Congrats on your gold. By the way, mine rang up as a zinc penny too !!!
