I found Mickey Mouse

Found about 5 inches deep, it's a solid metal. It was quite packed with dirt when I unearthed it, but after cleaning it as best as I could at home I discovered Mickey's face staring back at me.
I'm wondering what this could of been for. At first I thought it could be a belt buckle, but I'm not so sure.
I cleaned it as delicately as I could, but unfortunately the writing on the back of it that you can see on the second photo is quite damaged. I think it would of said Official Disneyland or Disney Store.

Any ideas of what it could possibly be? I wonder how modern it could be. It would be really cool if it was an old product not sold anymore.

I've only been detecting a good couple of months, this has been the funnest find so far. Trinkets are always a fun find.

You're right ZacSc. Groundsweeper linked images of a brass key chain that looks exactly like this (besides the deterioration). I'm thinking the keychain I found is probably from a couple years ago. Even so, a fun find all the same!
