Would use a scubatektor in the early morning right after they open and before a lifeguard is on top watching ...

Huh ? But most certainly Navy seal commando security personnel roam under the water, to catch scofflaws like this, eh ?

Maybe mounting a gopro on a scuba tector (as a gopro stick) will let you search and swim the whole day between the tourist :D

Pirates are everywhere, just have to try to outsmart them all :cool3:

Heck, they even have discriminating pinpointers these days, right ? (albeit perhaps only discerning ferrous vs non-ferrous). And most of the handheld pinpointers these days do 2" to 3" on a coin-sized target. Right ? Heck, a buddy of mine made a pulse pinpointer, that could reach 4" or more on coin sized targets.

All of which could be made waterproof. And all of which can fit into a fanny pack. And then, yes, once underwater: You are a world away from any prying eyes.

And if some passing fellow swimmer comes by (if you're worried that someone might scrutinize you) you can simply put it in your pack, till they've passed by. They make underwater fanny packs, right ? :pirates:

The vibratech pinpointer with the small round coil on it is very small, you can slip the handle up inside your shirtsleeve and palm the coil part and it just looks like you are waving your hand around, just saying...

Very interesting . What's the depth on a coin-sized target with that ?

i was watching Carters video on one of these handhelds... has decent depth.

Tom, yup, that's the one I have. Decent depth, can't tell you in inches, but even 4 inches is enough if you are hunting certain otherwise unhuntable spots...
If you were really adventurous you could easily cut the shaft and extend the battery holder part down to your belt, run elongated wires up inside your shirt from your waist to where you have the coil actually sewn in to the palm of a glove if you wanted to be 100% stealthy. After working on an excal numerous times that mod would be a piece of pie...

Then why not take it to the next ultimate level ? Strap on your coil under your shirt , wires going down to your fanny pack which holds your control box. Talk about ultimate pinpointing ! From your chest ! Frees up both hands to do the fanning and digging....

I havevn't been to Hawaii in 35 years and unfortunately wasn't into the hobby then.

But, Hanauma Bay would be an ideal place to MD if "allowed." If not....well, there are always a large number of people snorkeling in there all the time. I'd slap on my mask and fins and bring my Garrett Carrot with me. It wouldn't be as good as a full detector but if that place truely is off limits then it's loaded with gold from the tourists.

Just saying.

You would think so. But ironically, I can think of many supposed "off-limits places", that have been worked to smithereens .

I say "supposed off-limits", to differentiate the "shades of gray" . Ie.: places with persons roaming around that really care , versus run-of-the-mill type beaches and parks.

And it's sort of a regional thing : There are places in the USA where it seems that 'no stone goes un-turned'. Versus other parts of the USA, where it boggles my mind the places that are left untouched (timid hunters ? I dunno)

Kinda like door 2 door sales. You are always taught that if the sign says "No soliciting " you better knock on that one.
