Lovely photos Jim, we don't get either of those birds here.
Thanks for posting them.

Apart from wildlife, I like aviation photography. On Sunday (2nd June)
I went to Duxford to see DC-3s arriving for Wednesdays flight to Normandy,
to mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, where they intend to do a parachute
drop. Fingers crossed as the weather forecast is bad.
On Sunday there were twenty one DC-3s with more expected.

Nice photos Alan, thanks for sharing !
There seems to still be quite a few working DC-3s, I don't know, but I'm guessing they mostly use them for shows and to preserve history rather than everyday commercial use.
There are a few still working. I think Buffalo still have a couple flying in
Canada, although one was damaged a couple of weeks ago. If you look
at "Plane Savers" on YouTube, you can see one in the process of being
restored, which should be back in the air this week.
There is also a company which rebuilds them, fitting turbo prop engines.

Was this the company in Ohio? The owner (I think) recently crashed one and died.... [emoji37]

Interesting, I imagine the restoration isn't cheap as I would think spare parts are not plentiful.
Last Sunday, 2nd June, we went to Duxford to see the gathering of DC-3s,
preparing for their trip to Normandy on the 5th, for a parachute drop. It was
a great day, to see so many of these aircraft in one place, about twenty four
I believe. I was then lucky enough to see them fly over on their way to France.

Nice pics! No Mustangs in attendance?
