Got arrested today.

Just to let everyone know I am home and doing well, and NO I was not taken advantage of while being detained.

Everything happened very quickly, I almost didnt believe it was happening. Someone had called because we were on private property digging. But it really wasent private property it was City property.

I was down on one knee with my Lesche digging a plug from a good signal when out the corner of my eye I see a police car with lights on. I didnt think much about it because of the neighborhood we were in, till he turned into our parking lot. I put my digger and pinpointer in my pouch and walked towards the officer. He said I received a call from someone saying there were guys digging in the bank and "do you know anything about this" I replied "NO". So he asks what is that thing you have there I said a metal detector, and what is that on your side I said a shovel, so he says must be what I saw you digging with. I was really trying to do everything he asked. He went through my bag and took my pocket knife and made assume the possition. I was ok at this point just figured he was doing his job, till he took the cuffs out   ....he mentioned that he did not witnes Brian digging and that when he arrived I was on my knees digging and then lied to him about what I was doing. :?: He was hearing nothing and let Brian take my gear and truck. Thank goodness I will get my stuff back from Brian.

What was the outcome of your detention?

Oh man now I've seen it all,you mean to tell me Chatanooga's finest don't have some real lawenforcement to do aside from making some MDers life miserable...Incredible!!!!!

I am relieved!-just joined the forum today

Whew!

it would appear everything is all better? Fter all, you were in plain daylight. Good to have a buddy with you!

Just a newbie to the forum today and I thought I should start asking for black swat-team or shock troop gear for Christmas so I could organize the detecting underground. The only attorney I know is my brother in law-pretty scary, huh?

Any other lessons to key in on?

So did they charge you with anything?? Or just waste your day??

Seems like a slow day in TN...

.sorry to hear stuff like this. I have MD'd by a bank before and I went in first, spoke to manager and asked permission. I sorta told a really itsy bitsy white lie and told them my daughter thought she may have lost her keys in the lawn. Worked that time at least. Good luck. I think I would plead ignorance and ask for forgiveness and leniency. ..... Jan

I have several friends that are cops, and mean no disrespect what-so-ever. Just some thoughts. Like everything else, there are good cops and bad ones. Sounds like it could have been worse with both of you getting picked up, back-up being called and guns being drawn (after all, you had a knife AND a shovel, OH MY!), etc. One of the cops I know (can't really call him a friend, we have different philosophies of life) could have been your cop's twin. He'd make it a point to mess with people just to show them who's the boss. Never rough them up, but unfortunately your experience is similar to what he would brag about. They finally had enough of him and fired him. Glad everything turned out ok, but puts a damper on the holiday spirit. Curt

Sorry to hear you got locked up, but couldnt this have happened..

during the contest!!!!!!!

Dang it....6th place was so close.....

Seriously having been a cop for 26 years I would think that they will need someone from the Credit Union to testify. They are the "Victims" in this.. and I really doubt that they will take the time to show up to court "IF" it even gets that far...

Good luck and keep us posted....

So sorry to hear of your trouble Don! Were any charges filed and will there be a court appearance?? Keep us posted.

Perhaps a little e-mail campaign would be in order. The mayor of Chattanooga is Ron Littlefield. Here is his e-mail. What do you think?:?:

I couldn't find any e-contacts for the police department.

No email necessary. All is good in the world.

You see the story was true right up to the part whee I went to jail. It seems my friend brian has a friend on the police force and when I wasent looking gave him a call. It was the best punk ever .....Ashton Kutcher would have cried watching it go down. I was totaly fooled all the way into the backof the car in cuffs then I looked out the window and saw them laughing at me. We decided to see what you guys would think.

I was released in the parking lot and we hunted most of the day except for all the rain.

This was the best prank ever that anyone has played on me.
