Gold Ring

I went detecting today with Keith at a local park and I found this ring; it registered down in the "nickel" range, so I believe there is some gold in it. This was my only find of the day, but it was worth the time.

I just got done air testing the ring, and it reads at 10 V.D.I.; this is in the "foil" range on my 6000 Pro XL. So, I don't think that it is gold plated.

Hey zoy, way to go on the ring. A 10 VDI sounds like it would be gold to me. It looks old from the pic but it is hard to tell. Can you tell what the stone is and if it is real?

Nice looking ring Zoy. It does look old, so chance are it's not plated - if it were, the plating would be corroding after spending a long time in the ground. I think you've got a nice keeper there. Bring it to a jeweler and have them tell you what it is, and maybe repair it for a few bucks! Nice ring Zoy!

Sure looks like Gold to me, nice find! Those foil readings produce alot of small Gold rings. H.H.:-)
